Primary 3

Primary 3 have been learning how to use an Atlas this week.  The work we have completed on coordinates in Maths has really helped us with this! We located the islands we are learning about in our topic, Madagascar and the Isle of Coll. We then challenged one another to find different countries by checking the index to find the page of the country and it’s coordinates.   We have also been researching the different landscapes found in Madagascar and have discovered that it has mountains, tropical beaches, cities and rainforests.

Penpals for Primary 3!

Primary 3 have been busy writing letters to Magale School in Uganda this week, introducing ourselves to the children there and telling them all about our lives at Pumpherston. Susan and Robert Comrie are going to send the letters for us and organise for a child of the same age to write back to us.  We are very excited to hear about what life is like in Magale!

Happy New Year from Primary 3!

Primary 3 are excited to be back for the new term. We have been talking about different New Year traditions this week and have decided on our New Year resolutions for 2015. Here are some of our resolutions:

Kamila:  “My resolution is to try and keep my bedroom tidy.”

Erin T: “I want to get better at riding my bike.”

Ceira:  “My resolution is to get my work finished on time.”

Primary 3

We have been researching the different kinds of animals that can be found in Madagascar and finding out facts about their diet, habitat and behaviour. We worked in pairs to display our facts on a colourful poster.  In writing we have been making lists of what our “wants” and “needs” would be if we were to be stranded on a Desert Island. We all agreed that food, water and shelter should go on our “needs” list.
