P1 Reflective Learning

This week, P1 have been learning about labels.

First, we looked at fireworks on a video and looked at what shape they were, what colour they were and what noise they made.

Then, we went and drew our own fireworks on black card, making sure they were different shapes and colours. Then, we wrote a label next to our firework. We had words like BOOM, BANG, FIZZ and POP. We tried to write letters that we already knew.

Until next week…

P1 Rights Work

Want or need? This is what Primary 1 and Primary 1/2 have been thinking about this week!

Ted has decided to move to a new land and we had to work in groups to decide the five most important things he would need to take with him.

We understood that there are things we need to live and there are others which would be nice to have, but we could live without them. However, one confused us…

So we challenge you.. A toothbrush – want or need?

Good luck!

P1 & P1/2 Victorian Tea Party

This week, Primary 1 and Primary 1/2 have been very busy preparing for the final part of their Birthdays topic – our Victorian Tea Party! We have been busy making bow ties and headbands to wear and have been practising how to use a cup and saucer – ask us to show you how! We are very good at it now! We have also been preparing Memory Bags for our grown ups to show them what we have learned through this topic.

Grown ups..

Please wear your finest garments and we will meet you at 11.45am to escort you into the dining area.

Photographs to follow!

P1 Reflective Learning

In Primary 1 we have been learning new sounds.

We have already learned…

‘P’ – is pink and we use our lips
‘A’ – is black and we use our tunnel
‘S’ – is light blue and is a quiet tongue sound
‘C’ – is yellow and is a throat sound
‘M’ – is red and we use our lips

See if YOU can remember all of the sounds and colours we learned this week.

Good luck.. We’ll be testing you!

P1 Teddy Bears’ Picnic

Last week, P1a and 1m had a surprise. Mrs Davies found Buster the Bear in the playground. He had a tag around his neck that was for the annual Teddy Bears’ Picnic. Unfortunately, Buster was left behind and missed it 🙁 So, both classes decided that we were going to make a Teddy Bears’ Picnic so he had one to go to.

We need to think about…

  • What we will take
  • Where we will have it
  • What we will drink
  • What we will eat
  • What we will sit on
  • Who we will invite
  • What we will do at the picnic

Watch this space for more details 🙂

P1m

This week P1m held elections for our Eco Rep. Well done to Lauren, who had her first meeting on Tuesday!

We have been enjoying joint Golden Time with our nursery friends and are very excited about them coming into Primary 1 in August!

Looking forward to another busy week 🙂

P1 Eco Week

Primary 1 had lots of fun during Eco Week! We designed our own planters and then spruced up the ones by the kickpitch! We pulled out the weeds and planted new seeds! We also went on a Spring Litter Pick – you can see how much we collected in the photo! We also helped the team on Friday to plant apple and plum trees for our orchard. We can’t wait to see the trees grow.

P1m Reflective Learning

This week P1m made fairytale puppets. We chose our characters, then drew them and painted them. Once they were dry we cut them out and then stuck them on to a straw. Once they were finished, we made fairytales with them on the carpet.

Well done P1m – your puppets were amazing :)!

P1m Fairyland

This week P1m started making their Fairyland houses. We are turning our whole class into Fairyland. We made stuff to put on the wall. One group will be making a Fairyland shop, where you can buy lunch and see Rapunzel working. One group made a witch’s house, where she can make potions to try and kidnap Rapunzel. One group made the stick house from the Three Little Pigs and another group made the straw house. Both were very messy! One group made the Gingerbread house, where the Gingerbread Man lives. And the final group made the Three Bears’ house, where Goldilocks is hiding!

Come and peek in at our Fairyland display 🙂

P1m – ‘A Good Lesson…’

This week P1m were talking about what a ‘good’ lesson looks like. We had lots of good ideas!

  • We need to know what we’re learning and why
  • We need to know how we’re going to learn
  • We have to think if we can use Lenny (our link lizard) if we can use what we already know
  • Everyone should be listening
  • Miss McLaughlin should say things in a way we can understand them
  • We should learn in lots of different ways (writing/drawing, the smartboard, acting, etc)
  • We should learn with lots of different people
  • Miss McLaughlin, a partner or I should check how I know I have learned
  • A lesson should not run late
  • We should think about what we have to do next

A big list for Miss McLaughlin to think about!

P1m 🙂
