Tinsel Tree

Peppy our elf has been moving around our classroom a lot this week. We have found him hanging from the star, in our house points jar, in our Monday folder and hanging from the door. We were all very excited and we are happy to have him in our classroom.

This week we have also begun to learn a French song. It is called ‘Vive le Vent’ which is the French version of Jingle Bells! We worked out that it actually means ‘long live the wind’.

Jessica – “We were playing moneys with Mrs Struthers. We had to roll two dice and we were given amounts of money. The aim of the game was to collect more money than others”

Darcy – “We worked with Mrs Struthers to complete a maths workbook page. We did really well!”

Primary 4 also were given 12 drummers drumming and 4 calling birds to make for the hall decorations. We used paint and collage materials to create them and they look wonderful.

Primary 4 Catch-Up!

Primary Four have been very busy recently! We have been doing a lot of reflective reading in groups looking for information and using this information to answer questions.

We also got a new visitor who will be staying with us for the month… his name is Peppy and he has been up to all kinds of crazy things already!

Finally, we have been working on writing our own song with Miss Mulholland. Each group made up their own beats, pitches and lyrics and we began to perform our own sections this week. They are sounding great already!

Zoolab

Primary Four had some very special visitors in today!

We met lots of different animals thanks to the team at Zoolab and we all learned lots about them.

Everyone enjoyed themselves and participated by either stroking or holding the animals.

We all had very different reactions to the different creatures, but we could all agree that Spike the Hedgehog was lovely.

Stand Up To Cancer!

Ava B – “We were learning how to say our numbers to 31 in French so we can say our birthdays”

Abbie – “We have been creating place value posters to show our learning”

Rosa – “We have been looking at rhythm with Miss Mulholland. We played a game called Hot Potato to help us”

 

This week, we raised money for Stand Up To Cancer. We all wore orange and donated a pound for the charity.

Scottish Maths Week

This week across Scotland, it has been Maths Week. We have been doing some exciting maths activities in class.

Amelia – “I enjoyed doing the book of shapes with Miss Cave. We had to match the shape with the correct colour.”

Ellie Curran – “I liked playing the game ‘Splat’ where you answer a question and the other two people next to them can answer the question too and they have to say “SPLAT!”

Aaron – “I liked doing tiling with the shapes to investigate whether the shape would tile or not.”

We also continued our Celts topic and have begun to make Celtic roundhouses for our families to live in.
