Here is what happened today when Miss Speirs and the other teachers took on the Ice Bucket Challenge! Thank you to everyone who sent a donation to encourage us to take part!
Showing our school values to the world
At Assembly this week we were delighted to hear about the fundraising Cerys and Nia had done for our partner school in Magale. The girls worked with their family and organised a coffee morning at their grandma’s house last weekend.  They served tea and coffee, held a raffle, sold home baking and made loom bands for sale.  The total raised was over £400! Wow!  We added on the money already raised here in school last term and presented the cheque to Mrs Comrie after assembly.

We were also treated to a slideshow presented by Molly, about her exciting trip to Malawi this summer with the charity Mary’s Meals. Â This charity encourages children to go to school by making sure there is a meal for them to eat there during the day. Â Molly took donations of toys and gifts, and met lots of new friends in Malawi. Â She also got the chance to try the meal, called Pala, with the children, and she said it tasted a bit like porridge- but even worse!
Closer to home, we heard how Freya was a good and kind friend to Lauren when Lauren fell off her bike on her way back from school. Well done Freya. Â We’re glad to see your leg is feeling better now Lauren.
These girls are great examples of our school values, showing respect and consideration for other people.
Have you seen any other good examples you would share with the world?
Jump Rope for Heart
We have counted up the sponsor money and Mrs Hull is VERY proud to announce that the Jump Rope for Heart event raised over £1283!! Thank you very much to EVERYONE who contributed to the success of this event.
The British Heart Foundation have said we can keep 20% of the money raised to buy playground equipment, to keep us fit and active with healthy hearts.  This will be £256.64! (Miss Speirs and the Pupil Council will discuss how to spend it in the next school year.)
We have sent a cheque to the British Heart Foundation for the fantastic sum of £1026.56! This will do a great deal of good work on fighting heart disease and teaching more emergency first aid throughout Great Britain.  Well done everyone and THANK YOU!
Fantastic Gymnastics 2
Here are some photos from the Gymnastics and Dance show performed on Friday by our pupils, choreographed by Mrs Pender.
First, this is a link to the video of the gymnastic team’s routine to music.
Le collection de juin 2014
Primary 4 were looking très chic today as we held a class fashion show in French.  We were showing how much we have learned about the french words for clothes and colours.  Each of us had to describe what our partner was wearing as they posed on the cat walk.  Thank you to Miss Speirs and Mrs Hailstones for coming along to watch (and joining in!).  Photos by Aidan who was our fashion photographer today.
Au revoir!
JRSO Parksmart poster winners
At today’s Assembly we heard who had won the Poster competition organised by the JRSOs. Here are the winning designs which will be adapted into posters for display around our school, to encourage everyone to park smart or to travel to school without the car.
Well done to Sophie, Bayleigh, Kyle, Bailey, Molly, Nia, Freya, and Jonathan.
P3 Trip to Kirk of Calder
P3 went on a trip and enjoyed it. We went to Kirk of Calder church in Mid Calder and we learned lots of things. We learned that the font is made from Gibraltar rock. Â The trip was brilliant because we got to go downstairs, upstairs and stand in the pulpit, and then they were kind enough to give us a snack. We have written thank you letters to Bobby and Richard for being so friendly and helpful.
Thursday was a special day
Children, staff, family members, friends and the community joined together on 15th May to remember Miss Martin, a dearly loved teacher who sadly passed away in November. Miss Martin was a very well respected teacher who dedicated 41 years of her career to the school and made many friends along the way. A special tree has been planted at the front of the school as a memorial to Miss Martin. She is missed by all.
Jump Rope Reminder
Please return your sponsor money and your sponsor form.
More than 20 children have already returned their sponsor forms and sponsor money and the total so far is £484! Thank you very much to everyone who has contributed to this great cause.  If you haven’t handed yours back yet, please bring your form and money in as soon as possible so we can send the money off the help the British Heart Foundation.
Primary 6 weekly blog
Last week we were meeting our new buddies in the Nursery. Â We will be spending time this term making friends with them and helping them prepare for Primary 1.
We enjoyed the Jump Rope for Heart on Friday 9th May. Â We really enjoyed the never-ending circle of skipping. Â Remember to bring in your sponsor form with the money as soon as you can so we can send it to the British Heart Foundation.
We went bowling at Pumpherston Bowling club and had the chance to bowl on the green there. Â This trip was part of our topic which is Our Community. Â We have been finding out about different clubs in our community for our class talks. Â The Golf Club, Martial arts clubs and dancing clubs are some of the community clubs we have learned about. Â Are you a member of a local club? If you think we should know about it, speak to one of Primary 6!
