Christmas Choir on Tour

Today was a big day for our School choir as we were out and about, giving 2 performances in the local community.  This morning we were entertaining the staff, patients and visitors at St John’s Hospital in Livingston, and helping to raise money for The Friends of St John’s Hospital.  We were very pleased to see members of our fan club who had come along on such a wet and windy day to watch us and listen to our singing. We also took Alfie the Elf for some extra Christmas magic – he was very well behaved.  Thank you to the Friends of St Johns for inviting us, and for giving us juice and biscuits (not figgy pudding) during our break.

The visit to sing at St John’s was made possible by a donation given by Dobbies Garden Centre as a goodwill gesture after our performance there was cancelled last year.  The money has been held for use by the choir and paid part of the hire price of our tour bus.

This afternoon we walked through rain, wind and sleet to sing at the Pumpherston Golf Club, entertaining guests invited to a Christmas party by the Pumpherston Community Council.   (This time we even had a dressing room! Will it be the Usher hall next year?) They were a very appreciative audience, giving us many rounds of applause and joining in on several songs especially our grande finale, Rudolf the Red-nosed Reindeer. We would like to thank the Community council for inviting us to sing and being so friendly.  Thank you also to Pumpherston Golf club for the juice which helped our hard working voices to recover.

The next singing events here at school will be the P2 and 3 singalong in the morning of Wednesday 17th, and the P1 and P1/2 nativity in the afternoon on the same day.  Remember everyone is also welcome to our whole school singalong (bring your Christmas hat!) at 9.30 on Tuesday 23rd December- the last day of term.

PSFA Christmas Fayre

The PSFA would like to say a big thank you to everyone involved with the Christmas Fayre this afternoon.  The choir got us off to a very  festive start with their carol singing and the stalls were very busy.  It was fantastic to see such a good turnout in support of the school. We hope you all had a fun afternoon and thank you again to everyone who helped to run the stalls and activities, and for all the helpers who tidied up too.

Thank you also to Santa for taking time out of his busy schedule to visit us here today.

The grand total raised will be announced next week.

Torchlit Procession Cancelled

Pumpherston Community council have told us today that unfortunately they have had to cancel the Torchlit procession which was planned for 10th December.

They are disappointed that it won’t take place this year.  If you would like to be part of the team planning the community Christmas events for 2015, contact the Community council through their website.

Thank you

Jammies and Onesies for Pudsey

We had great fun wearing our pyjamas and onesies to school, raising money for Pudsey bear and BBC Children in Need. The total raised was over £180!  At the end of the day we had a fabulous furry fashion show so everyone could see how great we looked.

Well done everyone. I couldn’t fit in everyone’s photo so I decided to show the very youngest – and the very oldest – pyjama people!

Harvest Service

Thank you again to everyone who donated goods to our Harvest table today. We were very grateful for all the food and produce brought in to school, and glad to be able to help our local community in this way. This year the table also included some of our OWN grown produce- the leeks were freshly pulled out of the raised beds this morning.

We hope everyone who joined us enjoyed our Harvest assembly and we wish all the best to everyone receiving a bag of Harvest goods. This year we were able to give bags to everyone nominated by our school family, and to send many bags to the West Lothian foodbank to help families in crisis. Thank you to the group of helpers who sorted out the bags for distribution. Your help is much appreciated.

We learned at Assembly how our money has helped our friends in Uganda to buy Braille machines for the school and orphanage in Magale, and we saw how happy the children were to receive a pencil each.

We can make a difference!
