Primary 2 have had a very exciting (and confusing) few weeks!
While we were ‘Daily Mile-ing’ one afternoon, a mysterious package was left on Miss McLaughlin’s chair. Inside, were some bones and a set of footprints!
We made guesses about where we thought the bones came from – alligators, lions, dinosaurs… But we still had no idea who sent them!
A few days later we received a letter. The bones (from a dinosaur!) were from a famous paleontologist called Mary Anning! We learned about her exciting life and with the help of Sarah-Jane, more about what a paleontologist does.
Mary Anning wanted US to become paleontologists too! So, we drew ourselves in full dig-worthy gear and sent the pictures back to her. Little did we know about the surprise that was waiting for us on Wednesday!
We now have our own ‘Dino Den’, where we can dig for bones, use the microscope and learn more about different types of dinosaurs! We also spent this week drawing detailed pictures of the bones and using our maths skills to measure/weigh them and find their area.
Check in with us to see what Mary’s next challenge is!
Until then…
Primary 2 & Miss M 🙂
