Primary 1

As part of our Scots week, Primary 1 have been exploring Scottish stories and singing Scottish songs.

We read ‘Katie Morag and the Tiresome Ted’ and used the book to inspire our learning this week.  We had lots of fun taking on the role of Katie Morag in Drama, showing her behaviour and emotions in different parts of the story.  When Katie Morag’s teddy got tossed into the sea we used our writing skills to create a poster to help find him for her. Today in Art we had to look carefully at the illustrations of Katie Morag’s island to create a stormy sea picture. We had to mix lots of different colours of paint and use wavy brush strokes to make the dark sky and choppy waves.

In Maths, we have been using counters and other objects to find different ways of making 3, 4 and 5. We managed to write sums to match the number facts we found.
