Primary 6 have a short, but busy, week

Although we have only been in school for two and a half days we have been very, very busy.

On Wednesday we started our new topic Livi Living, which is all about Livingston. We created a class book with all the information and facts that we already know. A few of us drew maps of parts of Livingston that we know. We still need to create a cover for our book and would like suggestions for what we need to include on the cover.

In Maths we have been transferring our skills to create different versions of our names. We create symmetrical patterns and wrote our names using block letters, with a set area (52-62 cm2). This was great fun, Then we coloured in our names, using fractions to help. Most of us had to use rounding to decide how many squares to colour. Here is an example:

If your name took up 55cm2 and 1/4 of it to be blue then you would divide 55 by 4. This would give you an answer of 13.75. Because this is not a whole number you would round up and colour 14 squares. This means that 1/4 of 55cm2 is approximately 14cm2.

We can’t wait to find out what we will be learning next week…
