On Monday Barnaby Bear got a letter and two tickets to other countries. The letter asked him to find out about these places before he could visit them. Each class chose one ticket. We chose the one to Russia so we talked about what we know about Russia. This turned out to be quite a lot. We talked a lot about the Winter Olympics and what we thought it would be like there. We decided to look for it on the class globe to see how far away it was from us – it is a very long way away and some parts are quite close to the North Pole. We decided the first thing we needed to learn about was the weather and what Barnaby would need to pack. We used Google (Jamie’s idea) and information we had in a book about a boy called Sasha who lives in Siberia in Russia. We have been writing lists for Barnaby to help him pack for his trip. We have some other plans so watch this space.
