Racket skills lesson: week beginning 11/5/20

Hallo everyone I hope you all had a lovely weekend with plenty of sunshine and lots of exercises.

For this week’s lesson I have got a bit of a fun challenge for you to develop your racket skills and achieving the following success criteria:

  • I can show good control and accuracy when hitting the shuttlecock to a target/over the net and to a partner

  • I can co-operate and compete in a variety of mini games.

  • I can show an awareness in space, changes in speed and direction.

  • I can move to a position to return the shuttlecock.

  • I can show fair play and sportsmanship.

Your challenge is to come up with ways to play a racquet game at home. If you are lucky enough to have a racquet and balls/shuttlecocks you can use these.  If not, don’t worry, I am hoping you can be creative with items you have around your home (eg magazines, card, plastic/wooden kitchen utensils, scrunched up bits of paper, soft toys).  Make sure you have an open, safe space in your house/garden.

How many “keepy uppy’s” can you do on the spot?

Can you aim and hit at a target (eg bin, toy box, washing basket)?

Could you play a mini game with someone at home? Count how many passes you can make to one another.

I am looking forward to hearing how you all get on with this challenge.  Please post your comments in this channel if you can.

You can always enjoy watching some Bitesize physical activity programmes

Hello boys and girls, I hope you are all having a nice week. Hopefully you are all managing to get outside and stay active in this glorious sunshine. This week I thought we would have fun with a bit of dance. You will see there are two dance tasks. It would be great if you could take part in both at some point. They are both very different but equally as fun. Enjoy!!

P.E Lesson – 7.5.20

LI: I am developing skills and techniques and improving my level of performance.

SC: I can move with purpose demonstrating balance, control and rhythm.

1. French Disco HWB 1-21a (co-ordination and fluency)

A great video resource that can be located via Youtube, ‘5-a-day’ encourages movement and actions to music with a keep fit approach to its content. This activity blends PE skills with French vocabulary. A fun and active way to consolidate and learn some new French words and phrases. Find it at –

2. Dance Class (E&O – HWB 1-21a – Rhythm & Timing)

Use the ‘Just Dance’ video to lead you through a series of dance moves to the ‘Kung Fu Fighting’ song. Each successful moves earns you points. Try to keep up with the dancer and practice to see if you can complete the dance without making mistakes – a BIG challenge! I would recommend watching the video first. ‘Kung Fu Fighting’ for Just Dance can be found at

Have fun and enjoy dancing

P1/2

Good morning P1/2

I think it might be another lovely day today, so I hope you will be able to enjoy some time outside either in the garden or when taking your daily exercise.

Here are some new tasks for you to try.  The Sumdog Challenge continues today, and many of you have already made a great start to it. Well done!

I have also enjoyed seeing some of the tasks you have completed recently, so thank you for sharing them with me.

Remember not to worry about completing every single task each day. Just do your best, and take time to have fun and enjoy the beautiful weather too!
