Sports Day 2016

The sun was shining on Mid Calder this morning as P1-7 went up to the field to take part in Sports Day. There was a range of activities on offer including: football shoot out, welly throwing, obstacle races, hurdles and lots more. A big thank you to Mrs Mitchell, our P.E. specialist for organising such a successful and enjoyable Sports Day and thank you to all the parents and families who came along to support the event.

Congratulations to Calderwood who were the overall winners!

STEM Open Morning

This  morning, MCPS opened its doors to parents, carers and friends in order for pupils to exhibit their learning through our STEM (Sciences, Technologies, Engineering ad Mathematics) contexts for learning. This included:

P1: The Garden

P2-3: The Great Deserted Island

P4-5: Project Planetarium

P6-7: CSI

Our guests spent time in their children’s classes taking part in a wide range of activities including; designing space crafts of the future, information sessions, demonstrations, Science investigations and lots more.

We also used this time to ask parents for their input into our Curriculum Rationale, the the results of which will be shared soon.

Thank you to everyone who came along to support the event.

Spring Fair 2016

The sun shone on Mid Calder on Friday as we opened our doors for our annual Spring Fair organised by our PSA. Pupils past and present, families, staff and members of the local community joined together at MCPS and took part in a range of activities and events from the bouncy castle to tombola, various stalls to face painting.

A big thank you to the PSA who organised the event and to everyone who attended. We raised a huge £1773.97.

Mid Calder School Calendar

Do you ever wish that you had all the key school dates at the start of the school session?

The PSA have worked with the Community Crusaders to produce a one stop shop calendar for the school session 2016-2017. Each month is decorated with the children’s artwork.

Dates include: Christmas parties, Sports days; School nativities etc

Calendars are available to buy from the school office at a cost of only £5. Closing date for orders will be Friday 20th May 2016.

Download eBooks to a wide variety of devices for free

How do I register?

Simply register on the site with your library barcode and PIN (usually the last four digits of the phone number we have on record for you), then login and start searching.

What can I borrow?

You can borrow or reserve up to six ebooks for free from the West Lothian eBooks(Opens in a new window) site, and download them to a wide variety of devices.

There are hundreds of books to choose from on this site, and thousands more copyright free titles on sites like Project Gutenberg(Opens in a new window) and Obooko(Opens in a new window)

New eBook Collections

We have created several new collections of ebooks: Tartan Crime, Modern Women, Nordic Noir,Family Sagas, Most Popular and Just Returned, so click on the Collections Tab(Opens in a new window) to see what’s available.

How long can I borrow them for?

You can borrow ebooks from between 1 and 21 days. You select the loan period once you have chosen the titles you want to download, and the ebooks expire from your device at the end of the selected loan period.

eBooks can be download to an ebook reader, tablet, smart phone, computer and laptop,. They cannot be downloaded to the Kindle reader due to Amazon’s policy, but can be downloaded to a Kindle Fire.
