Calderwood news!

Calderwood

As we were the winning house last term, we will be having another House Party!  This will be on Friday 11th May, 9.30am until 10.30am.

We have decided we would like to have a Pyjama Party, so if you are in Calderwood House, please bring your pyjamas/onesies/slippers to change into that morning.  We will be playing games and having fun (and food!) in the Hall.  We will come round classes and remind you nearer the time.  Thank you 🙂

Olivia – House Captain

and James – Vice Captain

Tidy Toilets!!

Our House Captains and Vice Captains were keen to improve the school toilets for everyone and they’ve been working with other members of the school community to improve things and ensure they are a nicer place to be!  After discussions at House Meetings, they decided on rotas and rewards and put this in place a couple of weeks ago.  After counting up the scores today, they announced that the Upper Girls Toilets and the Infant Boys Toilets had the highest points.  They will have ‘fancy’ toilet paper and hand wash in their toilets next week.  A very big well done to everyone for trying hard and leaving the toilets as they would like to find them!

Cunnigar Candyland Party

Last term Cunnigar won the house cup, so after a vote they decided they wanted to have a Candyland Party. Owen and Ryan worked hard to plan a fantastic party which included chocolate corners, pass the parcel, selfies, wrap the captains and lots and lots of Candy! A big well done to the boys and the P7 helpers for organising our party.

PSA Halloween Disco

A big thank you to our PSA for organising such a fun and creative Halloween Party. Two of our house and vice captions attended a PSA to discuss what the pupils would like at the Disco and the PSA used this information to plan our exciting parties. Thank you to all the pupils, parents and staff who attended the discos.

Sports Day 2016

The sun was shining on Mid Calder this morning as P1-7 went up to the field to take part in Sports Day. There was a range of activities on offer including: football shoot out, welly throwing, obstacle races, hurdles and lots more. A big thank you to Mrs Mitchell, our P.E. specialist for organising such a successful and enjoyable Sports Day and thank you to all the parents and families who came along to support the event.

Congratulations to Calderwood who were the overall winners!

House Meetings

Today we had our first House Meeting and the Vice and House Captains did a fantastic job or organising and leading the meeting. They created their own House Meeting Agenda which started with discussing the House Community Contract, followed by a Community Builder so that we could get to know everyone in our house. They completed a Values Vote to select which 2 values their house would stand for. Then they set the challenge of designing a logo and slogan for their house. The results will be shared at the assembly on Friday. Well done on a fantastic first House Meeting!
