P7 Learning Letter Term 2

Dear Parent/Carer,
Welcome to term 2 in Primary 7. The children have settled well into the routine of the new term and it is unfortunate that Mrs Wright has not returned but I have put measures in place to ensure consistency and progression in their learning. Mrs Redmond has been the main teacher and is planning very closely with Ms Richmond who has our other P7 children. Mrs Wright does hope to return within the next few weeks and is extremely upset at what has happened. I do understand that does not help our children but by having experienced teachers in the class who are communicating very closely we aim to provide a stimulating and settled environment until her return. I will keep you updated and I am sure the children will continue to relay to you any information on the day to day running of the class.

P6/7 Learning Letters Term 2

Dear Parent/Carer,
Welcome to term 2 in Primary 7/6. All of the children have settled well into P6 and we are looking forward to a busy and fun term. There is lots to look forward to, including our new IDL context: Mid Calder Memories. Also, all pupils are part of a Junior Leadership Team and have started making positive changes within our school. Please keep track of all that we are learning this term via the school blog.

Cunnigar Candyland Party

Last term Cunnigar won the house cup, so after a vote they decided they wanted to have a Candyland Party. Owen and Ryan worked hard to plan a fantastic party which included chocolate corners, pass the parcel, selfies, wrap the captains and lots and lots of Candy! A big well done to the boys and the P7 helpers for organising our party.

Visit from DR Sam Vettese

On Thursday DR Sam Vettese came in and told us about here 3D printer and how it uses recyclable potato starch. DR Sam Vettese  works in art and design at Napier University with 3D Printers. She brought a 3d printer in to show us then we made models out of plasticine. We were wee replicators for a while.

Dr Sam Vettese used to make bracelets and looked very pretty, Now she makes 3D models and researches new materials. Her favourite printing material is laminated wool.

We explored design ideas of what we would want printed in 3-D using Plasticine and got to take them home. What do YOU think of  3D Printers?

Thank you so much to  DR Sam Vettese for the amazing art lesson/visit  we hope you enjoy every moment.

Crafty Christmas Fundraising

We are getting ready for Christmas making cards using line drawing, painting and then cut-out collage in the style of Alice Druitt at Gingerpaws designs. Nathan’s gran is coming in to help with the careful mounting and card design at our Craft Club on the first Tuesday back after the hols and thereafter on a Wednesday. We have some very crafty staff helping too. If you are a keen crafter and want to help please let Miss Brolls know. We need small colourful or mother of pearl buttons for one of the cards so donations will be gratefully received. Get out yer button boxes and give for the fundraiser!
