Mindfulness Session
Each week Mrs Hendry invites children to take part in a short mindfulness session. This could be a great short family activity to help reconnect, focus, calm and relax together.
Before you being this weeks session please make sure-
Your room is dimly lit.
You are comfortably lying flat on your back, we love to get a comfy cushion for our heads and even a cosy blanket. (Not all children will want to lie down, a comfortable position will do)
Press play on the voice recording, close your eyes and remember to breath slowly in and out…

Try at home family challenge ”Become the author of your own story, and make home -made book ” Support early years literacy. .
You can also be the author and illustrator of your own story, it depends on you how long your story will be. We’d love to hear and see your story. Please share it with our nursery friends and send any photos and videos.
Make a home -made book with your child about their favourite things .
Let your child make all the choices and decisions about what their book will looks like and what they put in it. Provide simple house resources to create book e.g. colour pencils , pens ,cards, paper ,pictures from catalogues and magazines , ribbon ,wool or string, scissors, glue and variety of materials with different patterns , colours and textures.
Making home made books together encourages loves of books and positive towards sharing books and stories . Home made books together can support the development of early reading and writing skills .Children often want to become the storytellers themselves. We can support them through active listening, and promoting with occasionalquestions or contribution of write down children’s word .When children hear their words read back to them ,it helps them that the marks on the page carry their meanings .
