St Joseph's PS Whitburn

On Wednesday 1st May, St Joseph’s Primary will be hosting a ‘Share the Learning’ event within the school. Our learners are eager to welcome all parents to their classrooms on that afternoon so as to share some of the wonderful learning they have done over the past term. There will also be time for some short activities which you can do alongside your child. The event begins at 2pm, all classes will be participating.

If you have children in different classes, please feel free to move between classes during this event.

Iona House met today and created some lego models of things we can ‘reduce, reuse or recycle’. We had fabulous models of bottles, boxes, trees, wellie boots and gardens.

On Tuesday, P6 visited Almond Valley Heritage Centre in Livingston as part of our ‘Whitburn and West Lothian’ topic. We learned about the role mining played in our local history and found out about the lives of miners. We also got to meet some of the animals that live at the centre.

The Parent Council are hosting a meeting in school on Monday 25th March at 6pm to discuss Whitburn Galaday.

We would love to invite anyone who is interested in helping to organise the best galaday for the kids to come along. This could be anything from helping to make costumes to walking.

The minutes from the Parent Council’s meeting in March can be viewed below. Our next meeting is on 13th May at 6pm. All are welcome to attend – we would love to see more parents there!

St Joseph’s PC meeting 04th March 2024

Today, as part of World Book Day, P6 joined the boys and girls from the nursery to take part in a paired reading activity. There were lots of smiles and happy faces during our reading.

The West Lothian Advice Network is hosting a Financial Wellbeing Networking Event on Wednesday 20 March 2024 from 2.00pm – 4.00pm at Whitburn Partnership Centre.

The aim of the event is to raise awareness of the organisations that provide support to the wider West Lothian community including:

• A fun speed networking session where you can hear directly from services within a set time
• Information stalls to learn more about the wide range of support services on offer
• Time for networking and discussion with other attendees

We have a vast range of organisations attending the event – if you work with people who are struggling financially, need advice about money, debts, budgeting or information on the wider support available then this event is for you!

Parent Partnership- Financial Advice and Support and Employment 

 

Please take time to read the useful information from Parents Partnership.

The Equity Team have created a ‘Sharing Shelf’ in the front foyer at the school entrance. You will find lots of non-perishable foods and lots of other household items that people can come and take when needed. We also have lots of toothbrushes, toothpaste and other toiletries. There is also lots of uniform and kids clothes on our clothing rack in the foyer.

All items are available to everyone to ‘take what they need and give what they can’. We will be adding other items to the shelf in the next few weeks. If you can think of anything else we could offer, please let the school know.
