Good Morning everyone,

Well did everyone spot what I forgot to put on the blog yesterday?…there was no numeracy! Silly Mrs Short. Don’t worry it’ll be there today.

As we only have a few weeks left of term I thought it would be a great opportunity to build some skills that are really important for numeracy.

Numicons – you are going to be developing your skills in number bonds for numbers 1- 10. It is important that you know these facts very well as we use them a lot in numeracy and these basic ones can also be used to wok out more complicated calculations later.

CHALLENGE: If you get to the point where you know them all very well and can say them, make them, draw them. Then why not try looking at the 2x table (see Numbers/Digits resources)

Digits – you are going to focus on 3x, 4x and 6x

CHALLENGE : If you get to the point where you know them all very well and can say them, make them, draw them. skip count and write the equations. Then why not try looking at the 8x, 9x and 11x table.

I’ve created an overview sheet with lots of activities, online videos and online games. Also check out active learn and sumdog (logins in your home learning packs) for some extra activities and games. Just choose a couple of activities a day.
