Celebrating Success in P3W

Congratulations to all the boys and girls in the school for their achievements this year! We were all so impressed with how well everyone has been doing.

Well done to the following boys and girls in P3W:
Ty Shek for enthusiasm and excellence in P.E.
Harvey Forrest for always working hard in all his subjects and trying his best.
Samantha McMillan for always making a huge effort in presentation of all work.
Lennox Clarke for always being respectful of others.
Sophie Lindner for always trying her hardest and working well with others.

Miss Wilson is very proud of all the boys and girls for their hard work!

Here is a picture of our performance of “You’ve got a friend in me”

We had a visitor!

Eva – We had a visitor who came from a farm. His name was Jamie and he was a farmer! He came and showed us some wool that came from a sheep.
Megan – He took us outside and showed us his tractor and we all got a picture beside it.
Sophie – He showed us some crops that came from the farm and they were really small! They looked like nuts.
Liam – The most important crop is grass and we all see it every day. Really dried out grass is called hay. It has no moisture in it and it’s cleaned out.
Jennie – If the soil is really good and moist then there will be lots of worms in it.
Alanna – It’s good when there are lots of worms in the soil and birds are trying to eat them!
Ty – It was really fun when Jamie started his tractor up and it was also really fun when he showed us a picture of the brussell sprouts he farms.
Caitlin – When we went outside we looked around the tractor and it was fun. When I stood next to the wheel it was bigger than me!
Cole – When we looked around the tractor it said JCB on the side of it.

And…. ACTION!

Today P3W performed their Drama of Ancient Egypt and we recorded it. Miss Henderson even popped in for a little bit to see some of it too! We have really enjoyed writing our script and preparing for this final performance. I am really proud of all of P3W for learning the script so well and you did fantastic! J

Jennie – We performed our Drama on Ancient Egypt today and it was fun!

Ty – I enjoyed watching the video of it. I thought my voice sounded funny.

Megan – I liked it when Miss Wilson was recording because I remembered all my lines and I read them clearly.

Harvey – When I gave the heart to Ross who played Anubis I really enjoyed watching that part.

Tom – I enjoyed it all because my part was in Scene 3 and I remembered all my lines.

Drama in Ancient Egypt!

Primary 3W thought it would be a great way to finish off our Ancient Egyptian topic by performing a Drama and recording our performance. We will try and post this on our blog next week!

Sophie – First, we wrote our script and thought of 3 scenes. These were:

Scene 1: Tutankhamun’s life

Scene 2: Mummification

Scene 3: The weighing of the heart ceremony in the afterlife

Eva – We printed out our script and everyone got a part and their own script. I am Narrator 3.

Ty – In Scene 1 I am Narrator 4. My script says:

“King Tutankhamun was only 19 years old when he died.”

Noah – I am in Scene 2 and I am Worker 1. I have to pull out the brain from the mummy’s nose! Ewwww.

Jennie – In Scene 3 I am the God Osiris. He is the God of the dead and afterlife. I get to welcome Tutankhamun into the afterlife.

Caitlin – I am in Scene 1 and Narrator 2 and my script says:“Tutankhamun was only 9 years old when he became pharaoh. As he got older he gained more responsibilities. He even got married!”

Rory – Tutankhamun’s nickname was King Tut.

Sam – In Scene 3 I play the God Ammut. Ammut eats up people if their heart is heavier than the feather because it means that you have sinned in your life.

We have all been practising our lines very hard and are even taking these home to learn for the final performance next week. We have been working on costumes and prop ideas and it is all very exciting. I hope you all learn your lines and I know you will do great!

-Miss Wilson 🙂

Ancient Egyptian Personal Projects

This week we handed in our personal projects! We had to complete these at home as a Home Learning task and some of the projects were astonishing. Everybody received a certificate for their super interesting personal projects. There were 3 winners who stood out as making an extra effort. These were: Sophie, Noah and Liam.

A few of the projects were:

Caitlin – My project was a scroll made out of papyrus paper. I made it by putting tea bags on it and then putting it in the oven to make it look real.

Sam – My project was an Egyptian book. On the front cover was Tutankhamun’s sarchophagus.

Rowan – My project was a very big 3D wooden pyramid! I made it by putting six planks of woods and cut them into triangles and stuck them together. We then painted it with glue and tipped a bag of sand over it.

Jennie – My project was a booklet. Inside the booklet was lots of different facts and pictures of things I researched.

Noah – My personal project was a book of lots of facts and pictures inside of pictures of me at Edinburgh museum. I also made a canopic jar with a jackel head on top and it had a mummy stomach inside. I won a prize for my efforts.

Sophie – My project was The Book of the Dead and I made a death mask and a model of Ancient Egypt. I had lots of interesting facts and I made the death mask look like it had been burnt. Also, I won a prize for my efforts!

Liam – My personal project was a booklet with facts and I won a bookmark prize for my great efforts also!

Well done Primary 3! Your efforts were outstanding 🙂

Information overload!

This week we were learning how to create information posters by researching facts on a specific topic on Ancient Egypt and displaying this as a poster.

Rowan – On my poster I researched the after life. I found out that the Egyptians thought the after life would be better than their life before they died. They would bring statues and amulets with them for the after life.

Liam – On my poster I researched Tutankhamun’s tomb. I found out that robbers tried to steal things but they didn’t find the good stuff – like the jewels and his sarcophagus!

Ty – On my poster I drew pictures of some Gods such as Osiris, Bes, Ma’at, Ammut and Anubis.

Harvey – We learned about the weighing of the heart ceremony. If your heart was heavy Ammut would appear and eat you up!

Megan – If your heart was heavier than the feather that meant that you lead a life of sin.

Grand Opening of P3W’s Balbardie Museum!

We all had our Grand Opening! We made our own museum with 5 exhibits. These were:

1.Sphinx

2.Gods

3.Death masks

It was lots of fun taking parents around our museum. We all had different jobs. These were:

1.Ticket office workers

2.Curators

3.Tour guides

4.Shop assistants

We also had visitor badges for all the parents.

We made our own artefacts, e.g. death masks, sarcophagus, etc.

We made sure we had facts on all the tables about each exhibit and we researched these facts ourselves.

We all enjoyed our jobs a lot!

We also had thank you cards and welcome tickets that we handed out and made ourselves.

It was a fantastic open morning and we hope all the parent senjoyed themselves – because we certainly did!

We also found out lots of facts about the River Nile and how it was used by the Ancient Egyptians!

5 x 3 = 15 and 10 x 9 = 90!

Caitlin – We have been learning Scottish words! A goonie is a dressing gown, bitts are boots, a jaiket is your jacket, sannies are plimsole shoes and a sark is a shirt!
