Broons Aroon Scotland! P4g

This week we made yummy shortbread. We had to follow the recipe exactly and learned knew baking words like cream, score and press. Thank you to Mrs McNeill for doing this with us. Miss Goff said she was so proud of us and gave our class 50 popcorn seeds as Mrs McNeill said our behaviour was fantastic and she had a very enjoyable afternoon with us!

For storywriting this week we added to our personal writing booklet. We had to try and sell our own house using persuasive language! We really enjoyed this activity and here are a few examples of our powers of persuasion:

–      This house has lovely qualities with two amazing stained glass windows and a stunning dining room. It also has three fabulous bedrooms with sunlight shining in every morning. (Louise)

–      This house has a lovely relaxing bathroom and the biggest bedroom has an en-suite. There is a dining room with a beautiful view onto the beautiful garden. It is so nice you just can’t miss it! (Jane)

Would you buy these houses???

Also this week we enjoyed making up a dance to Calvin Harris’ Bounce! We choose our own teams with mixed boys and girls then performed to each other. The most popular dance move was fist pumping in the air haha! We even asked Miss Goff if we could continue to work on dance.

For art we were asked to blend colours of black and white to make various shades of grey. We then painted a portrait of Robert Burns. Here are a few of our paintings:

Lastly we have finished our 3D map of Scotland. What do you think?

  1. Hello 4g,

Lots of Scottish themed learning this week. I’m sure your shortbread making was great fun. Maybe you’ll ask at home to have another go at baking some to share with your family and see if you remember what Mrs McNeill taught you to make another delicious batch? Your giant 3D map of Scotland looks great. I am sure each of you could give an excellent tour aroon Scotland using this.

    Enjoy your weekend,
    Mrs Spence

  2. I love your 3d map of Scotland, what a clever idea, I bet you had lots of fun making it. I am hoping isla will make some more shortbread at home for us as it sounds delicious! My question for Robert burns would be “have you ever met any witches like the one in tam o shanter?”

  3. My question for Robert Burns would be ”how many poems have you sold?” I really liked the shortbread we made, it was yummy, but hard! I am really proud of the Scotland map, especially Loch Ness, since I made it!!!!!!
