The final of The Great Dunblane Bake Off

Friday the 19th of May saw the final of The Great Dunblane Bake Off.  All 8 children were able to independently create the cakes which were delicious and very creative.  Judges came from Cromlix to look and taste the children’s cakes.  They had a very difficult decision to make but they did manage to choose a winner.

Well done to all the children who took part.

Here are the chefs at work –

Foot and mouth painting to honour service amputees

P7 have been investigating the effects on service men and women as part of our WW2 context. We first read and watched accounts of those affected by limb amputation and then discussed at length the challenges that would create day to day. We then examined existing works by foot and mouth painters and their techniques.

All that was left was for us to try it ourselves and we had a competition to see who could create the most accurate London skyline using only a foot or mouth!

The class produced some excellent results and many realised that as they went on their technique improved showing the benefit of practise and perseverance.

Budgeting-making a profit in P7

Primary seven even have been creating theme parks in maths looking at ; profit and loss, budgeting, percentages, area and position and movement. They have really built on their previous knowledge from their p5 topic ‘dragon’s denblane and many have shown some shrewd business acumen -making huge profits!

Shoebox Appeal

The ‘Kids Count’ citizenship (with a little help from P7G) have been very busy with our charity efforts.

We have managed, with your help, to fill and send 90 shoeboxes of toys and household items to families in Eastern Europe to open on Xmas day.

Thanks to all at the Dunblane Rotary Club for helping us organise this, it has been an extremely worthwhile and educational experience for our young learners. Thank you to all who contributed donations as well, it really will make a difference!
