Online Safety

As we head into the long weekend, we would urge all parents and carers to remain aware of online activity among your children. Online learning has massively increased the use of cameras – in particular your child’s ability to use them. With this inevitably comes risks and dangers from people taking advantage of the situation.

There is a TikTok viral going around today encouraging children to visit the website omegle.com

This is a website where anyone is randomly matched to someone else and they are instantly connected via webcam. This of course is dangerous and could easily expose your children to the worst of the internet, so please remain vigilant.

We would strongly encourage everyone to use the long weekend to –

  1. Speak to the children about remaining safe online
  2. Review your parental settings on your wifi/devices
  3. Check in with your child’s device in terms of apps and people they have ‘added’ on these apps.

In school we always state if they do not physically know the person, they should not be their contact in an app and should not be able to contact them.

Jotter Collections

A reminder that tomorrow and Thursday (3rd & 4th of February) we invite you to attend the school if your child is running low on space and needs any new jotters to support their online learning.

Time slots for jotter collection on these days are between 10-11am and 1-2pm. Please attend the main school office and observe social distancing.

Primary 7 Transition

In the Primary 7 Google Classroom today they will find a form asking if they have any questions whatsoever about heading up to high school. On the form there is also a section for parents/carers to ask any questions.

This is a great chance to find out anything that may be on your mind. The forms will be sent back to LHS next Friday, so if you could make sure your child ‘hands in’ the form on Google Classroom before 10am next Friday (5th February) it would be appreciated.

You can also visit the high school transition page by clicking this link.

Christmas Lunch

A reminder that today is the Christmas Lunch! (16/12).

Please ensure your child has a packed lunch if they have chosen not to take the canteen Christmas Lunch.

Casual Christmas

nstead of Christmas Jumper Day this year we are having Casual Christmas throughout the month – children can dress up, dress down, wear a Santa hat, a Christmas jumper, wear uniform – whatever you choose. Anything goes (apart from the usual football colours restriction).

The school will make a donation to Save the Children on behalf of the school community, therefore no money needs to be sent in.

Thank you!
