Burns Day Celebrations

This year Woodpark will be holding our Burns Day Celebrations on Thursday 27th January.

By now all the children will have received their poem(s) to learn. We would really appreciate adults helping your children to learn them!

Two entries from each class will be chosen to perform on the day, where they will be in with a chance of winning the whole school prize!

Good luck everyone and have fun reciting your poems!

🎄 Wednesday Reminders! 🎄

  • Christmas Lunch (packed lunch or home lunch if your child has not pre-ordered).

  • Christmas Jumper Day for Save the Children charity (donation optional as always)

  • Last day to order panto popcorn and juice for 20p

Remembrance Day

This year Woodpark Primary are recognising Remembrance Day and supporting the Poppy Appeal in a slightly different way. As we are unable to to sell poppies, instead we are making a donation to Poppy Scotland and The Royal British Legion.

On Wednesday, in addition to observing the 2 minute silence at 11am, the children will be taking part in Remembrance Day lessons. They will also be creating artwork and as a school we will collectively be walking 100 miles to recognise 100 years of the poppy as the symbol of remembrance.

We have also suggested each class to create some poppy artwork at home to display in their window and upload a picture to Google Classroom as their digital homework for the week.

Halloween arrangements

A reminder that children are invited to Dress Up or Down for Halloween tomorrow (Friday 30th). This is a free event, children should not bring a donation for school funds.

Please remember children must come to school in their choice of clothing and cannot bring accessories/masks or wear face paint or make up. Looking forward to a spooky day!

Halloween!

Next Friday (30/10) we would like to invite the children to Dress Up or Dress Down for a fun day of Halloween activities in their classes. We are very aware of the exceptional financial pressures for many of our families this year and are keen to stress that dressing up is optional, but if children do decide to wear a costume they cannot bring along any accessories/props that go along with their costume, cannot wear a mask or face paint and, as always, nothing too scary that would frighten younger children.

Children MUST come to school wearing their choice of clothing for the day as we are still unable to allow changes of clothing in school. We realise this isn’t a normal Halloween, but we hope this small effort can bring a bit of joy. Have a lovely weekend!

Sport Relief Day

This Friday is Sport Relief Day at Woodpark. Children are allowed to dress in sportswear (no football strips or colours). Children can bring 20p for activities and 50p for splat the teacher!
