The work on our “Green Classroom” has begun

We were all very excited to see work starting on our Green Classroom. Children loved seeing the diggers and crane working making the site ready for creating our sensory garden that will provide us with a fantastic outdoor learning space

Diggers were unloaded!

We watched them out of the windows!

The team started to change the green space into our garden.

Watch this space for updates!

Young Persons’ (under 22s) Free Bus Travel

All young people and children aged 5-21 years can apply for a card from 10 January to access the Young Persons’ (Under 22s) Free Bus Travel Scheme from 31 January.

You will need a new National Entitlement Card (NEC) or Young Scot NEC card with the valid free travel entitlement with you whenever you want to take the bus – otherwise you’ll have to pay for your trip.

Eligibility

If you live in Scotland and are 5-21 years old, you are eligible for a card giving you free bus travel from 31 January. Children under 5 years old already travel for free on buses and don’t need a card. Applications for cards open from 10 January. However, you are being asked only to apply at this point if you need to make essential journeys by bus.

Children and young people aged 5−21 years old will need a new or replacement National Entitlement Card (NEC) or Young Scot National Entitlement Card (Young Scot NEC) before hopping on board. Previously issued cards will not allow access to the scheme.

The Transport Scotland website provides all the information needed to apply.

Christmas Presents

It’s almost the time that everyone is beginning to think of present buying and Christmas events.  One of our main drivers under the Equity Umbrella is the Cost of the School Day.  To help support everyone at what can be a financially challenging time we kindly ask all parents and carers to refrain from purchasing Christmas presents for Staff and Colleagues working at Victoria Park School.  However, if you would like to share some festive cheer a card or picture made by your child would be lovely.

School Open Tomorrow Tuesday 2nd November

I am delighted to say that school will be open tomorrow as normal. I am reliably informed by visiting engineers that the issues that we faced today with our water supply have now been remedied.

I look forward to seeing children and staff in the morning. Thank you for all your patience and support throughout today.

Kind regards

Liz Coomber
