Youth Music Initiative

It was wonderful to welcome Mr Johnstone back into school this week. We had a great time singing around the piano…..just like old times!

We have begun rehearsals for our Carol Service around the village Christmas tree on Friday 17th December.

Author in Residence

We are very lucky to have our very own author working here in Crawford Primary!

Ms Cassels writes her own books for children and agreed to read us the first chapter of her new book.

As you can see everyone was hooked from the beginning. We all loved the story and can’t wait to hear the next chapter!

Book Week Scotland

November 15th-19th was Book Week Scotland.

For book week 2021, we planned a variety of activities to celebrate reading for pleasure. We chose this week to launch our “drop everything and read” programme. This will take place once a week at random times and all staff and pupils will be encouraged to read for fifteen minutes.

This is a plan of the week’s activities:

1. Book bag introduction (P1-P3). Monday
2. Paired reading book review. Tuesday.
3. Open floor reading session. Wednesday.
4. Introduction to DEAR. Thursday.5. First DEAR Session. Friday.

Lest We Forget

On November 11th at 11am we took part in a 2 minute silence to remember those who have lost their lives in wars. The pupils were very respectful and mature whilst observing this silence.

Curling

P1-7 were introduced to curling for the first time last week. They all took to it very quickly and made great progress. What a skilled bunch of pupils! They are all looking forward to working in teams in the next session and having a real tournament.

Financial Education Week

Week beginning 8th November was Financial Education Week in school. Every day the pupils were involved in activities related to money. It was a busy, exciting week and everyone learned lots.

Financial Education Week Plan

The pupils made a Surf Shack as part of their topic and to tie in with Financial Education Week. They had lots of fun pricing items, setting up the shop and then buying and selling to each other.

Clarion the Polar Bear

Clarion the Bear

We were delighted to offer hospitality to Clarion the Polar Bear in the school overnight to keep him safe and to let him dry out! He is walking from Shropshire all the way to Cop 26 in Glasgow to highlight Global warming and the melting ice cap. The children were so excited to see him and were amazed at his size when upright. We walked behind him as he left Crawford for a wee bit which was very exciting. It is such a shame it was so wet.

Happy Hallowe’en

On Thursday 28th October Crawford Primary School had some very weird and wonderful characters going about the school.

They all then took part in a fantastic party planned by P5-7 and run by P6/7. The party included games like The Witch is in her Cave, Spooky Corners and Musical Bumps in the Night. It was a great party and everyone had the best time.
