Reading *Personal choice*

This week is a personal choice week in which all children can read any book, magazine or comic at home. Later in the week the children will complete a book review.

Welcome to the Room 6 Blog. We will use this to keep you up to date with weekly homework tasks and information related to ongoing class work. Everyone has had a fantastic start to Primary 3 and we are looking forward to a fun filled year.

Each week phonemes or a list of phoneme and common words will be given for each group to learn.  Please try to practise these phonemes/words each night using an active spelling strategy in preparation for a quiz in class on a Friday.  All children have been issued with a list of spelling strategies to choose from.

Challenge Activities – Can you write a sentence for each of your words?  Remember to use V.C.O.P. in your work (Vocabulary, Connectives, Openers, Punctuation).  Can you think of any more words which have the same phonemes as the ones we are revisiting this week? Can you spell them correctly?

For the first few weeks, we will be revisiting phonemes or phoneme and common words taught last year to ensure retention when reading and writing words.

All children have been given a Learn Its homework sheet. This must be done every night with a partner. The children have been shown what to do in class.
