Drumming with Joy

We had our second week of drumming with Joy in the music room on Tuesday.  We all learned how to take care of the drums and how to play them properly with the palm of our hands.

We learned to say hello in a foreign language called Swahili – The word we learned was ‘Jambo’.

In one of the songs  we have to shout out our name and then everyone else shouts our name back . Joy wants us all to be able to do that for next week.

At the end of the session  Joy played a song and we got to dance. In that song we had to pretend that we were different African animals. We all had great fun moving to the music.

Joy says that by Easter we will all be able to play a tune together!

Happy New Year Everyone. It was so good having everyone back in today. The children were very excited to tell us what they got from Santa. We had great fun in the nursery today, craft table , playing games, jigsaws, drawing with chalk and we went outside too.

We also introduced ‘serving yourself at snack and dinner’. The children enjoyed putting their own food on the plates and choosing how much food they wanted. There was good communication about passing plates of food and jugs of water. Great work everyone 🙂

Happy Halloween

On Monday the children coming to nursery dressed up. We made potions and had lots of fun mixing everything together. The children enjoyed being outside and running around, playing lots of different games with each other. We also loved doing signalong, where we were learning the different signs for food!

MUSIC TIME

Mr Travins has kindly given up his time to do some music with the children on Wednesdays just before lunch. The children really enjoy singing along to the music of different styles and cultures. They are learning new sounds, words and patterns  through music. Often they will continue singing the songs they have learned throughout the day and a bit of singing around the the table at lunchtime is not uncommon!

Queens Jubilee Party

The children had such a busy day on Friday. They all enjoyed dressing up with the different costumes. They learned where the Queen lives and were able to tell us some of the jobs that she has to do. We then had some fun dancing and playing party games after snack. The children enjoyed showing off their dance moves. Followed by a special snack made from the canteen ladies!

We even had a special visit from the Queen herself!!
