Folklore Exhibition

Last year Ann-Marie Anderson lead a Folklore collaborative project with Primary 7 and Fernlea. Pupils worked in small groups to create Payt sculptures from wire, plastic bottles, newspaper and masking tape before plastering and painting them and finally decorated with gravits made by Fernlea clients. The project had an emphasis on dialect and is based on a local story ‘Da Payts o Lungafield’.  The project was enjoyed by both pupils and Fernlea clients. Similar projects took place around Shetland and you can see the Payts on display at Bonhoga this Autumn. Please see the poster below for details.

PeerieMakkers

Yesterday we welcomed the return of the PeerieMakkers after a lengthy break. It is lovely to see some familiar faces supporting the new knitters learn the skills of knitting and keep the traditions going. We will look forward to seeing them each week and see the bairns knitting progress throughout the year!

Royal Mail 👑 📮

Last week we received a very exciting letter…

Before the summer, the school sent a few letters to Queen Elizabeth II to congratulate her on her Platinum Jubilee year on the throne, and on Friday we received a reply from her Lady in Waiting.

We are going to frame the letter and laminate the information sheets to keep as well as a card.

Have a look at the letter below.
