Parental engagement is increasingly becoming a priority in UK primary schools, and rightly so, including parents with their children’s education is very beneficial to their learning.
However confident you yourself feel about Maths and Numeracy skills, there will be things you can do to support their learning in this area and are probably doing so without realising. If your child is struggling, remind them that they can get better with practice and reinforce with them that they are not able to do it “yet”. Also remind them of the progress they have already made and the things they can do now that they were not able to do a year ago.
This page is here to support you with numeracy at home. The Whalsay School Numeracy Booklet is a good starting point if you need reminding on anything you were taught at school and below you will see different sections with links about the Number packs, online games and to other websites.

You won’t need lots of resources and the activities are designed to encourage your child’s creativity and independence. There are some activities that your child can do on their own. You may want to do some of the activities as a family.
