This term the S1 class have been looking at Meta Skills in Social Education. They have been taking part in numerous activities which allowed them to develop their meta skills, including designing and making their own paper aeroplanes, building a tower out of the class’s shoes, human knots, and this week—building a tower with spaghetti and marshmallows!
Pupils were given a budget of £100 to buy supplies with. They had to wisely spend their money on materials to help them build a tall tower, and one that could survive an earthquake. The pupils used lots of meta skills such and collaboration, communication, adapting, focusing and problem-solving. Some towers worked better than others, but I think the highlight for everyone was eating the marshmallows at the end!
