SCARF
In primary we use a resource called SCARF to support teaching in Health and Wellbeing. One of the characters is Harold the Giraffe and he is going to keep a daily blog with activities for bairns to do.
Activities for 3-5 year olds
Activities for 5-7 year olds
Activities for 7-9 year olds
Activities for 9-11 year olds
Daily Mile
In the Primary each class takes part in the Daily Mile every day – it has to be a really poor day for them not to go out and do their mile. At home you could figure out a route and do it every day, if you don’t want to travel far, calculate the lap of your house/garden and how many laps you need to do to cover a mile! Click on the link to find out more about the benefits of the Daily Mile.
Bikeability
Please see message below from Elaine Skinley, Road Safety Officer:
Children P5-7 across Shetland would normally be getting Bikeability training this term to teach them how to cycle safely on the road. But since the schools are closed its doubtful we will be able to deliver this life saving skill this term.
Please see link below where you can download the files and use them at home.
Bikeability Level 2 Teachers guide and the Cyclist guide is the 2 most important files to use for this group, but there are other files for younger ages that we would also be running at this time so parents are free to use them to.
