Today we welcomed visitors from the Glasgow Science Centre to the Primary department. The day began with a ‘Journey through my Body’ show for Primary 1-4 followed by a ‘Disgusting Digestion’ show for P5-7. Both shows were lots of fun and had the pupils engaged and actively participating as they learned about the journey of food through their bodies. Some of the activities left the pupils feeling a bit squeamish but it was Miss Hutchison and Miss Paterson who pulled the short straw as they were chosen to experience what happens as the food leaves our bodies!
Following the shows each class had a chance to visit the Bodyworks Exhibits which included: testing the strength of your grip; testing your balance; learning about the muscles in your arms and legs; flexibility; breathing and several more. Each station was highly interactive and the pupils thoroughly enjoyed the experience and learning more about our bodies. We are grateful to the Glasgow Science Centre for making the trip across to finish off their week in Shetland.
