Monday 4th September

A busy day today with an unusually all girl group.

We had great fun with the water beads.

The big bairns came for a visit and a play at break time.

We made lots of sandcastles.

We took out the Barbies and Action Men and made Barbie  City with some shoeboxes.

We are reading Elmer stories and making an Elmer display with our artwork. Today we did printing with apples and peppers. We listened to the story Elmer and the Windy Day. The elephants in the story held onto each other so they didn’t blow away so we went outside in the wind holding onto each other too.

We did writing and photocopied it.

We made the tea with noodles.

The big car got stuck in the garage but it was rescued – phew!

We overlapped cellophane on the light box to make new colours and cut up pies to make our own patterns.

We enjoyed playing with the musical instruments today.

Below is a video of a music session with the band.

Thursday 31st August 2017

A busy morning.

We put some water beads in the water tray. They got bigger and bigger and bigger!

We used craft sticks and cellophane to make shapes.

Making colour choices.

Snap, snap, snapping!

Making courses with cones.

The beads got bigger!

“They feel slimey.”

Deciding which way to go on the bikes.

Our craft on the light box.

We had snack with the older children and played outside with them.

Catching fish.

Following instructions to brush our teeth.

Singing some rhymes and learning the actions.

Tuesday 29th August 2017

We were very busy today!

Lotti had asked for the garage and cars and we all played with it today.

It was really windy and we played outside. We ran and played on the pirate ship, we drew on the blackboards and climbed on the climbing frame. We even tried flying our kite.

We emptied the washing machine and hung up the washing.

We printed pictueres using tatties.

We mixed paints in a bag to make new colours.

The vehicles were sorted by type today instead of by colour.

We played with Silly Soap.

We loved the Octons and Oliver asked if they could go on the interest table. We also swapped the number jigsaw for the Ten in a Bed Teddies. We used the teddies to count with and recognise numbers.

Show and Tell was ‘Our Favourite Toy’ there was some good talking, listening and turn taking.

We listened to The Very Hungry Caterpillar at snack time.

Monday 28th August 2017

Look at what we did today:

Drawing shapes. “It’s a circle.”

Sorting vehicles by colour.

Making pictures with sequins.

Building sand castles.

Pouring, filling and whisking the bubbles.

“I want tae  fill da bucket up ate da tap.”

Sharing the sand.

Building new tracks for the trains.

We chose some new toys to play with this week.

We went outside on a breezy day!

We found a lovely story about teddies with nursery rhymes to sing too.

Friday 25th August

Today we spent most of the time outside.

We chose some tools and got everyone a hat, then fixed the house.

We helped to bring the toys outside.

The boat was floating away so we talked about how to fix it down.

We used our toys to make bubbles.

We counted enough tatties for everyone.

Chose different coloured feathers, pushed them into the tattie and then…

we tried to make them fly!

Higher and higher!

Some of us sorted toys into matching sets.

We were looking for letter in our names.

Do you think we’re sleeping bunnies or cows or sheep?

We are crocodiles!

We snapped all around the school.

At the end of the session we heard The Very Hungry Caterpillar and sang our favourite songs.

Tuesday 22nd August

First thing this morning the whole school went to the beach.

Testing the depth of the water …

Throwing stones to make a splash … or three!

Collecting and counting shells.

Climbing

Paddling and finding things under the water …

We had two stories at snack time. One was a counting story and some good counting and number recognition took place.

After snack we took toys outside along with the bikes. Too nice a day to be in – and no midgies!

Problem solving, when you can’t pedal with two people, pull!

Finding out it’s better to be in the middle when you’re on a see saw on your own.

Show and tell, something from the summer, souvenirs, photos and stories!

When we were in the garden we picked a small bunch of juicy grapes from the greenhouse, yum!

Please remember there is no nursery tomorrow because of a power cut. Could anyone who still has forms to return please do so asap.

Monday 21st August 2017

What we did today:

We welcomed some more bairns into the nursery.

We harvested broad beans we have been growing in the planter outside. “They are furry on the inside.”

We cut the beans in half so we could share them st snack time.

We chose some books from the library to take home.

We took the playdough outside. It was too dry and crumbly so we tried adding some more oil to it. We practised cutting the playdough with scissors.

We tried to have a story outside but the midges got the better of us and we had to stop!

There were fewer midges up in the garden so we went to play there.

“I want to go on the motorbike but the engine is not working.”

“Look, I’m up in da tree!”

We we made collage pictures to take home.

Mrs Odie helped us to harvest carrots from the plant  pot outside too. We tried some and all agreed they tasted yummy.

Friday 18th August

We had a quick play at nursery before heading out on an adventure.

We walked to the hall to go on the Play, Talk, Read bus.

We had songs, stories, craft and played with the toys.

We went into the hall for snack and a play at the under fives.

We went to the play park before heading back to nursery for home time.

Joey took some photos with the iPad, here’s a selection:

He noticed the colours in the safety surfacing.

Thursday 17th August 2017

“Look, it spins around!”

“I take it out and iron it.”

We tried to play outside. There were too many midges so we had to run back inside!

We made some green playdough. We measured, poured and mixed.

Joey took a picture of the finished product.

We need some new photos for our welcome wall, boxes and birthday wall.

“Waw, a big New Holldand tractor!”

We discovered the windmill on our way to the garden.

Everyone had a go on the fitness trail

We found purple grapes and green grapes in the greenhouse. We ate some.

We all went outside to listen to a story about going to nursery.
