Welcome back!

We were all happy to be back at nursery.

Wax candle pictures.

We can write our names on our pictures.

We have started our topic on light and dark.

We played outside between the showers. We saw some nice rainbows with all of the colours in them.

We had some good rhythms going on.

Lots of pouring and filling int the sparkly water tray.

The nursery band.

Which nut fits on to which bolt?

We can match up numbers to dots.

“Pigs digger.”

“Look I can mak it spin!”

Staff: “Do you want to write your name in the soap?”

Bairns: “No, we just want to make a mess!”

“Messy hands!”

Fairy lights in the dark den.

“See how strong we are.”

We made up a cleaning song while cleaning the windows.

*Reminder: show and tell for tomorrow is “something from the holidays.”*

We have all had great fun working in our groups.

Happy holidays. See you all from the 25th of October onwards!

2nd October 2017

Look at what we did today:

We took pictures of each other taking pictures!

We built a jumping place.

We took turns at jumping over it.

“Look how peerie da water beads are noo!”

We painted some Autumn trees

We found a big puddle. We jumped in it.

It was even big enough for the duck to swim in.

“Can we dress up?”

We played hunt the duck.

We are learning to care for our teeth.

We listened to the duck song and the wonky donkey song in the iPad. We thought they were very funny songs!

Please can you ensure all snack money for the term is paid by the end of this week. Thank you.

Wednesday 27th September 2017

We’ve had a bit of a musical theme going on today.

We learned about symmetry today when we painted butterflies for our Elmer wall display.

We painted some small butterflies and some very large butterflies!

Oliver made some vegetable soup in the playhouse outside.

“What can I cook now?”

“I want tae mak more butterflies.”

“Can I have some water to make a cup of tea?”

One of the large butterflies. We think it looks amazing.

Mrs Odie brought in her ice cream making machine. We all helped to make chocolate ice cream.

We mixed in coconut milk, honey, vanilla and cocoa powder.

“Can I look at the machine? Waw!”

Now time to taste the ice cream with some fruit at snack time. Delicious!

Look at how many butterflies we have made!

We read a funny story about pants!

Monday 25th September 2017

Today has been about water play, counting, painting and using our energy!

We sorted the pom poems with tweezers.

“I like drumming.”

“Can we draw a cat?”

We needed an ear for Elmer’s friend on the wall display so we painted one with our feet.

Foot spa-with fish!

Cooking and eating in the playhouse.

Painting ice creams for the ice cream parlour.

Focus on counting. Can you put the right number of pom poms in each cup?

Lottie brought in some balloons. We had great fun throwing, catching and batting them. Lori took a picture of the bairns playing.

We read that story of The Tiger Who Came To Tea. Mrs Marshall brought in a tiger puppet. It tried to eat all of our snack.

We all did some great tooth brushing with Elizabeth from the childsmile team.

Monday 18th September 2017

Today has been a day of proil and clatch! And lots of other thing too.

Teamwork building the tower.

“I want pink and bubbles in da water tray.”

Shaving foam.

We added some food colouring and mixed it all up.

“Look at my names.”

It’s bigger as me!” Everyone helped to build the tower. It fell over when it got too high but we built it up again.

“Whar’s da step? I need the be higher.”

Counting the dots on the fish.

We wanted all of the emergency vehicles out at the same time.

“I want tae work we proilly stuff.”

Everyone wanted to decorate a box so we had to move to a bigger table.

Joey wanted his library book about dinosaurs read at snack time. Everyone enjoyed the story.

We ran around the school in the rain to use up some of our energy.

Friday 15th September

A noisy, busy day today.

.

“It’s a new Holland.”

We went to Edinburgh and Shetland.

“Yucky goo.”

We found 3 slugs and lots of slaters.

Discussing where the eye should go on Elmer. Up, up, up!

That’s  it!

A pet picnic.

We planted up our avocado.

Mixing, filling, pouring and banging.

Dressing up.

Stories and rhymes and puzzles.

Drawing and colouring.

Playing in the fire station.

Cleaning the tray after the aqua beads were emptied.

Very noisy learning. We noticed if we banged the table the rice moved. We moved it right into the middle of the table. Someone was watching closely, “it’s jumping.”

Lots of taking turns and sharing to finish off our morning.

Wednesday 13th September 2017

Look at what we’ve been up to today:

Printing with leaves……and hands!

Pouring out some clean water for the birds to drink

We made some pizza. Shaun came to watch.

We did some careful chopping.

We chose our favourite toppings. We baked the pizzas in Margaret’s oven. “The cheese will turn into blobs.” – Oliver.

We discovered we really like printing with our hands.

We ate our pizzas at snack time. Yum!

We sang the “cups” song.

We proved we can be very careful and manage our own risk.

We did the “5 little monkeys” poem whilst sitting in the tree.

We found a den up in the garden. It was full of crocodiles!

Monday 11th September 2017

We have had an Autumn themed morning. Mrs Odie brought in some leaves from her garden to show us.

Singing and dancing in the rain!

We painted our boots to make footprints.

One of the bairns found a hedgehog in their garden. We made our own hedgehog in the nursery.

Mrs Odie is going to make a tree handprint.

“Look, I got a number 3!”

The girls chosen a game to play out in the area.

The lasses washed the peerie dinosaurs…. then they washed the sink!

We made our own water tray outside.

“We might get a rainbow because it’s a sunny, rainy day!” (Lori)

We found a clock beetle, centipedes and a slater. We put them in the bug hotel.

“We are going to Edinburgh on da boat. We need lots o water in case we get thirsty.” Lori.

We listened to some great action songs on “The wheels on the bus” cd.

We read the story of “Elmer’s Friends.”

Just a reminder to say can we please have toothbrushing consent forms back this week as the Childsmile team will be coming to visit the nursery. Thank you.

Wednesday 6th September 2017

We made more music.

We did salt painting. It was great fun and we learned more about colour mixing. We used food colouring in droppers to mix the colours.  “Look, I’ve made orange.”

The workmen are going to make a new playground.

We listened to “5 little ducks” on the iPad then sang the song with our own set of ducks.

“I am the forklift!”

“We need a rope to stop the rock from getting away.”

We have changed our baking day for this week, so we “baked” some bubble dough.

The recipe:

We did calendar today. We learned about the day, the date, month, season and weather.

“I’ll set out the cones. You count them.” We learned that 6 and 1 more makes 7.

We worked together to make the tractor jigsaw.

We took the bikes out at the end of the session because the sun came out.
