Wednesday 20th September 2017

What a busy day! We had the Playvan here this morning and the under fives group came to play too. We also had visits from Primaries 1-3.

Before the playvan we had a play in nursery. We’re still building towers -and enjoying knocking them down again.

We are enjoying trying out the dressing up clothes.

Trying out the nursery resources while looking forward to starting soon.

Sean had loads of stuff in the van and set it up for us.

Cars and farm …

playdough … we made pizzas, pancakes and people, a really ‘p’ activity!

Back for more fun, lots of parental involvement.

Magnets are great fun, whatever your age!

Peerie ones  enjoyed playing together.

Great interaction, sharing, imaginative play and FUN!

Tuesday 19th September 2017

More clatch today!

We made moon sand with 4 cups of sand, 2 cups of cornflour, some water and lots of gold glitter.

We dressed up and played at being firefighters after the toy dragon set the pirate ship alight. Joey discovered the fire extinguisher could be filled with water and everyone had a good time squirting it. We set the timer on the iPad to help us take turns.

 

Some of the other dressing up clothes were used today too.

We are still enjoying working together to make tall towers.

We looked at the colours and number patterns on the dominoes.

Ball balancing!

Joy was back for some more African drumming.

We danced like different African animals.

“I’m painting a picture for Mam.”

We added water to the sandpit to make a “muddy puddle” for the truck to go in.

We chose whether to do show and tell or go up to the garden today.

Monkeys in a tree (complete with sound effects).

Turn taking at being the ice cream seller. Lots of flavours, including melon and chocolate chip!

 

REMINDER – The play van is here from 10-12 tomorrow, all under fives welcome.

Monday 18th September 2017

Today has been a day of proil and clatch! And lots of other thing too.

Teamwork building the tower.

“I want pink and bubbles in da water tray.”

Shaving foam.

We added some food colouring and mixed it all up.

“Look at my names.”

It’s bigger as me!” Everyone helped to build the tower. It fell over when it got too high but we built it up again.

“Whar’s da step? I need the be higher.”

Counting the dots on the fish.

We wanted all of the emergency vehicles out at the same time.

“I want tae work we proilly stuff.”

Everyone wanted to decorate a box so we had to move to a bigger table.

Joey wanted his library book about dinosaurs read at snack time. Everyone enjoyed the story.

We ran around the school in the rain to use up some of our energy.

Friday 15th September

A noisy, busy day today.

.

“It’s a new Holland.”

We went to Edinburgh and Shetland.

“Yucky goo.”

We found 3 slugs and lots of slaters.

Discussing where the eye should go on Elmer. Up, up, up!

That’s  it!

A pet picnic.

We planted up our avocado.

Mixing, filling, pouring and banging.

Dressing up.

Stories and rhymes and puzzles.

Drawing and colouring.

Playing in the fire station.

Cleaning the tray after the aqua beads were emptied.

 

Very noisy learning. We noticed if we banged the table the rice moved. We moved it right into the middle of the table. Someone was watching closely, “it’s jumping.”

Lots of taking turns and sharing to finish off our morning.

 

Thursday 14th September

Another busy morning.

Coloured rice in the tuff spot was mixed, poured, transported and scooped.

Discussions about all the mini cars.

“Let’s do it together.”

Rice cakes with a cherry on top.

Matching and sorting and posting shapes.

We’re at McDonalds making milk shakes, fish and chips.

We looked at some rainbows and decided which colours we needed and which order too.

Making sure it’s right.

Getting ready for outside play in the rain.

Was there enough wind for the kite to fly?

We needed to mix up some of the colours we needed today.

After lots of running….it flew!

“Let’s bury it.”

Controlling the paint brush to make the shape.

“We made a game called jumping.”

Many rainbows.

“H for Honda.”

Today we had a tractor, ship, ambulance and fire engine.

Building a wall.

Taking turns and sharing.

Helping.

 

A little game of chasing.

We started a band.

 

The jcb and taxi.

The story today was about Elmer and we sang Tiny Tim and 5 little ducks.

Monday 11th September 2017

We have had an Autumn themed morning. Mrs Odie brought in some leaves from her garden to show us.

Singing and dancing in the rain!

We painted our boots to make footprints.

One of the bairns found a hedgehog in their garden. We made our own hedgehog in the nursery.

Mrs Odie is going to make a tree handprint.

“Look, I got a number 3!”

The girls chosen a game to play out in the area.

The lasses washed the peerie dinosaurs…. then they washed the sink!

We made our own water tray outside.

“We might get a rainbow because it’s a sunny, rainy day!” (Lori)

We found a clock beetle, centipedes and a slater. We put them in the bug hotel.

 

“We are going to Edinburgh on da boat. We need lots o water in case we get thirsty.” Lori.

We listened to some great action songs on “The wheels on the bus” cd.

We read the story of “Elmer’s Friends.”

Friday 8th September

Look at what we’ve been doing today.

Colouring characters.

Playing fireman. “I don’t want my photo taken unless it’s real fire.”

Balancing.

Fine motor play with tiny vehicles.

Sorting, matching and counting.

We found some water to splash in.

Using our fine motor skills to control paint droppers.

Going to school on the boat.

Setting the table for snack. Does everyone have a mat?

At Macdonalds in Edinburgh.

Finding out about dinosaurs.

PE in the hall.

Playing games, listening to and following instructions and taking turns.

We buddied up with the big boys and girls and had playtime with them.

Thursday 7th September

Baking day.

Today we fixed the house up.

Made a bonfire in the boat to keep us warm.

“Look at the bumpy wall” in our accidental picture.

We took pictures of each other.

Counting,  measuring, chopping and mixing.

Taking turns.

To make a fruit crumble.

We chose a bike or tractor and got out the filling station.

The farmers need Macdonalds for snack.

We found a turtle in the gym hall. “If you wobble it moves”.

Filling up the trailer with muck to spread on the fields.

Playing with our new dough and singing songs.

Next the trailer got filled with flowers and grass for the cows and horses.

Building a wall to fit the space. Lots of measuring talk.

“I’m taking the flowers to the field.”

Collecting leaves from the garden. See what we do with them soon.

There was even time for a puzzle.

Wednesday 6th September 2017

 

We made more music.

We did salt painting. It was great fun and we learned more about colour mixing. We used food colouring in droppers to mix the colours.  “Look, I’ve made orange.”

 

The workmen are going to make a new playground.

We listened to “5 little ducks” on the iPad then sang the song with our own set of ducks.

“I am the forklift!”

“We need a rope to stop the rock from getting away.”

We have changed our baking day for this week, so we “baked” some bubble dough.

The recipe:

We did calendar today. We learned about the day, the date, month, season and weather.

“I’ll set out the cones. You count them.” We learned that 6 and 1 more makes 7.

We worked together to make the tractor jigsaw.

We took the bikes out at the end of the session because the sun came out.

Tuesday 5th September

A much nicer day outside than yesterday so we didn’t need to hold on to each other to stop us blowing away!

The big bairns were out playing so we joined in.

Sand play, we made a beach!

We welcomed a new pupil.

We watched the ferry coming in and waved to the captain. He waved back and tooted the horn.

We had a visit from Joy and her African drums. We drummed, sang and danced. We had to do good listening and take turns. We even did counting in French, Spanish and Shetland dialect.
