Week 8 African Drumming is back with a bang!!

We welcomed Joy back to lead us in some African drumming sessions.  They are lots of fun and very noisy!
P12 have had a big focus on reading and lots of the children have got reading books and reading records. Hopefully they have brought them home. We’ve also got some brand new reading books in school, so you may see some new books and stories in their homework bags.

This week we have continued our Under The Sea topic by looking at the largest mammal: the Blue Whale. Hopefully they should be able to tell you how long it is. We made a long model using salmon pipe, wood and pieces of drainpipe and then saw how long it took us to walk the length of its back. We know it would stretch from our classroom fire door to the staff room too, as we measured it.

p34 have been learning to map read finding places in Shetland and have enjoyed lots of active maths time.  They also had fun writing their own No Bot stories and creating their own Bots using Draw on the laptops.

p567 have been busy learning more about WW2.  They have found out about Anne Frank and how the Jews were persecuted during WW2. They have written very evocative poems Kennings and Haiku focusing on engaging language and imagery.

Star badges were awarded for writing, maths and reading this week.
