Last week in p2/3 we were learning about Diwali, the Hindu festival of light. We listened to the story of Rama and Sita and rewrote it in our own words, picking out the main ideas. We all enjoyed making Diva lamps from clay and are already asking when we can make some more things from clay!
Unfortunately we are not able to do baking but some people wanted to take home a recipe for some traditional Diwali sweet treats to try out at home.
We also coloured Rangoli patterns and put them on our door and windows. (should be on our doorstep!) Some people remembered to try to colour them symmetrically.
Today we have been painting our lamps and can’t wait to take them home!

Sophia has really enjoyed learning about Diwali. She’s retold an impressive amount of detail about the story of Rama and Sita and is delighted with the lantern she brought home!
