Term 1 Week 4

Have a look at some of the things that we’ve done in P5/7 this week.

PE – Here is a snapshot of some of our PE activities with Mrs. A.

This or That. We had to take everyday objects and turn them into something else. There was a lot of creativity and ingenuity in the classroom with this task.

Maths. This week, the P7s helped us to learn two new maths games – Storm and Race to 100.

Big Question. We started by learning about Apex predators of the Savannah and worked in groups to create animal fact files. For our mindful moment, we created some ‘Zentangle Apex Predator’ artwork. We then learned about the different classifications of vertebrates and what makes an animal a mammal or bird or fish or reptile or amphibian.

Term 1 Week 3

Hello and welcome to our P5/7 blog. This week, it’s me, Megan helping to write the blog.

Writing – Alice in Wonderland. For writing this week, we have been watching clips of Alice in Wonderland as our stimulus. We wrote about falling down a rabbit hole, our adventures in our own wonderlands and how to play ‘Flamingo Croquet’. Here are some pieces of our instruction writing.

This or That. We had to build our own wonderland or do something mindful. Have a look at what we did below.

🦛🦒🐊🦓 Big Question – Animal Adaptation. We have been learning about how different animals adapt to survive where they live. We researched structural, behavioural and physiological adaptations and worked in pairs to created posters which we will turn into a class book.

Fabulous Friday. On a Friday morning, Miss Farmer is working with our class to do some ‘Maths in action’ which has a focus on baking this term. We discussed all the maths skills that are used in baking and then the first group of P5 pupils went to use these to make delicious waffles for everyone.

Thank you for reading this week’s blog. Come back next week to see what we’ve been doing.

Megan 😄

Term 1 Week 2

Hi, its Ava writing the blog this week!

♥️Marvelous Maths. 3,2,1 flip and Blooket.  3,2,1 flip- We’d all have cards and we would walk around the classroom until Mrs. A would shout stop and you would have to add up both cards. Whoever was first would stay standing up and the other person would go and sit down. Blooket- the primary 5s played Blooket for the first time this week and they all loved it.

☀️ Sunshine Spelling. We went outside in the sun to do some active spelling to practice our words.

🐉Wonderful Writing. This week we’ve used Raya and the Last Dragon as our writing stimulus. We wrote dragon adventure stories, dragon poems and created endangered animal posters. Have a look at a selection of the fabulous pieces written this week.

🐘🦬🐆🦏🦁Big Question.  For Big Question this week we were put into groups and all the groups had different animals to research. In the groups we had to make and create something about that animal and their food chain.

💭Mindful Moments. Every day after lunch we watch a calm video with breathing exercises to make us calm and focused for learning.

🐶 International Dog Day Art. For art this week, Mrs. A gave us free choice with the theme of International Dog Day. There was lots of creativity on show in the class.

I hope you enjoyed the blog this week.

BYE!♥️

Welcome to P5/7

Welcome to the class blog. Here is a look at some of the things we’ve been doing in our first week of P5/7.

This or That. This week’s ‘This or That’ tasks were themed around Cinderella. Our Necessity Network task was looking at SDG 1 (No poverty) and creating rules so that the classroom was a fair space for everyone. The pupils worked in groups to create their own charters.

Our Stardust Squad task was lots of fun and everyone was able to put their own creative spin on it.

Flexible seating. Although we have assigned seats in the class, the pupils are able to choose where to work as long as it doesn’t impact on their learning or the learning of others.
