Term 1 Week 8

Have a look below to see what we’ve been doing in the final week of term 1. Happy Holidays to you 😊

Maths. We’ve had a very busy week with lots of different maths activities. We did our counting challenge on Monday to warm up our brains and Mrs. A challenged us to find patterns within our numbers to help us count. We’ve also been enjoying the new maths textbooks and how we can set personal challenges within the different exercises. We all have been working hard with Sumdog tasks this week too and enjoy the opportunities to play games within this.

Shoebox Appeal. On Monday afternoon, Clive, Trevor’s brother, came in to talk to us about the shoebox appeal and how we can help out if we want to.

French Fun🐖🐈🐏🐕🐔🦃🐍🐢🦆 . On Wednesday, we did a French animals scavenger hunt. Kay hid 9 ‘French’ animals around the playground and then we had 10 minutes to find them and translate the animal into English. We then had to draw a matching picture. Jess was first to complete it and got all 9 animals correct.

Big Question. This week we’ve finished off our ‘Surviving the Savannah topic’ by investigating different animals and writing our own books about them. We had to research facts linked to all our big questions this term and use these in our books. We had a gallery walk to share our books which everyone really enjoyed.

We also learned about super senses by playing the ‘Savannah Sense’ game whereby the class worked in pairs to identify different smells. We then discussed how some animals use their amazing senses to find food, sense storms or move away from danger.

Our ‘Big Question’ wall is full of all the amazing learning that has taken place this term.
