The Day in Kergord by Emma

On Thursday morning, we had to go to Kergord for an outdoor day. First Pete gave everyone some oilskins.
Next we had to go on the bus. It took a long time to get to Kergord.
Next they were finally there. We had to follow Pete threw a path because there was lots of celandine around there. Once we got to the burn we had to go across I thought that I was going to fall in .I didn’t.

Next we walked up a town .Next we had to go over a fence .Next we were finally there in the forest
We had to wait for the others. Once the others came
Pete said what it feels like when you hear the birds tweeting. I said that it was like all the birds were playing together.
Pete said follow me .So we had to take off our bags and we had to go under trees and over trees.
Next we had to go over a burn but it was too wide to across it so we went farther up the burn and Pete found a narrow bit of tree across the burn so we had to go along it I thought that I could not do it. Once I went across it. It was fun to. Next we got to a falling down tree that had slits cut out of it. We had to follow Pete along it. Next we got to a big tree Pete said you can go over the low branch or the high branch. I went over the low branch first. The next time I went over the high branch.
Next we had to walk up the hill. Then we had to walk up a hill it was very muddy some people slipped. We finally got up the hill .Pete said lie down on the ground and be quiet for 30 seconds. After that we came to a croft house it had a big plastic sheet over it and we had our diner in there. It was lunch 1. After lunch 1
Miss Irvin put us in to two groups for building huts. In my group was me, Erin, Nicol, Stephanie. Our hut was across the bridge. Our one had leafs for the floor and Erin found a flask. Stephanie fell down a howl because she was looking for sticks. Then we had to go and tell Miss Irvin that we had finished out hut.
Then we had to go for our lunch 2.Afrer lunch 2 we went to play the best game in the world. We played
5 times then Pete said that we would have to go now. Miss Irvin put us into pairs to go down the hill quietly. After we got down we went on the bus and went back to school.

Adventure Day At Kergord

On the 20th of March then we went to Kergord forest with Pete Richardson. He gave us water proofs and rucksacks. We got in his new red mini bus. We got our rock sacks and we put some stuff in it.
Then when we got to Kergord then we went up a path they were lots of flowers and clovers we then went across a path and went up through a park and into the main forest.
We did a single file snake route which was awesome. We got to climb up a massive tree. Pete let us pick if we wanted to go up and over the taller branch or go under the branch. The first time I went up, I went over the branch when everybody had done it. Then we got do it again. The first time then I went over it I felt a bit scared of falling but when I did it I really wanted to do it again.
Then when we were making are way up the forest then me and Nicol got very guttery because we came to a lot of gutter patches and it was so much fun because when I was in a sludgy Guttery bit. Then I started to jump up and down in muddy puddles like Peppa and George. But then I fell and got very guttery. But it was worth it.

Then we came to a patch at the top of the forest were there was a amazing view of the whole forest we had to breath and be calm you could hear the water running down the burn. You could also hear the wind going through the trees as you were concentrating. You could see a lot more thing then when you were walking and doing things. We breathed for about 5 minutes. After that five minutes then a few people had started digging up the ground with soles of their boots. And Pete said to cover it back up so we did.
Then we went for lunch part one I ate my crisps and one of my frubes so I was a bit filled up he then said that after this than we can built are wooden shelters the time that I’d been here before then that was the funniest thing that we did. So after lunch part one then we went to go and build our shelters
So we went down a path and Nicola tripped and hurt her ankle. When she felt better we got into groups I had to be with Loui-bo, Nicola and Jason. We were we had to be on the right side of bridge. We were going build it on a place with a fallen down tree but we found four trees that were on an N shape. And there was a big log across. Nicola asked me to find some more sticks so I did I found two more huts so I took sticks off of them Miss, Irvine said I was like one of that men that was at the Highland games. That takes the massive logs and throws them she says all I need is a kilt. We then started all to help build our shelter. Me and Loui-bo went to find leaves to make it water proof we found a few pile’s lying around then we couldn’t find any more so we went and got some gutter and threw it on I’m always so messy. Then I made a gutter slide it was so much fun. Miss Irvine then said to come and have the second part of your lunch. We went to go and wash our hands in the burn. I also had a drink of water from the burn. Then I ran across the bridge and went up to the old croft house. There was also a small fire going inside. I had my ham sandwich and my last frubes and my ribena and biscuit. I also drank my yogurt drink. Pete told us the story of lucky the lamb if you want to know about luck the lamb then type it in at Google. We were also arguing about whose shelters best then we went to speak about each other’s shelters.

When we had done that then we went to start a game of the best game in the world. It’s when you have to count to 20 then everyone hide then you count to 10 then they move. Then 5 then you move again then if you have not been found then they say SHOW YOURSELF!!!!! And you have to come out of your hiding place. The person that’s the closest wins the game.

The Adventure in Kargord-Loui-Bo

When Pete got to our school, we had to put on water proof clothes and we put on our rubber boots. We took our pack lunches, our jackets and our hats with us. When we got on the mini bus, Pete gave us a bag each with numbers on it to tell the bags apart. The bags where dirty from the other schools on adventures.
Once we got to kergord forest we got off the bus we went through the gate that led us into a park full of yellow flowers. The yellow flowers are called celaneine. We had to do whatever Pete did. When we got to the forest we went over the fence.

Finally we got into the forest. Then we set off again. Pete said to put our hands on a tree, we felt the bark on the tree was moving. It was moving because there were insects under the bark. I didn’t like the feeling of it moving.
We climbed some trees then we came to this big tree that we had to climb over the top of the branch or under the branch. Most of us went under the branch the first time. But the second time we all went over the top of the branch. When it was my turn I felt scared that I might fall of the tree but I did it anyway. At the top of the tree my leg got stuck. I got down eventually.
Pete told us to put our bags on the ground and use the bag as a pillow. We had to lie down on the ground and stay silent for three minutes. It was boring. We carried on and we went to lunch in an old stone building, with a green water proof sheet over it. This was lunch one, at school this would be break time. I was hungry.

Miss Irvine put us into teams. The two teams were me, Lewis, Jason and Nicola. The other team was Stephanie, Erin, Nicol and Emma. One team had to go across the river but my team had to stay on the side that we were on. We had to build huts out of dead branches. We did that last time in kergord.
Me and Nicola started building while Lewis and Jason got lots of dead branches. We had lots of gaps in our hut so Jason and Nicola built on, while I and Lewis went to get some leaves. We put the leaves on the hut. We had to keep going up to the top just to get leaves. So instead me and Lewis got a big hand full of mud and put it on the hut to make it water proof. It was fun.
An hour later it was lunch time part two. After lunch every one came to give feedback. They said that they like the idea of putting mud on the top. Then we went across the river to the other teams hut. We said we liked how the put leaves on the ground to make a floor.
We all went to a bench in the forest to play the best game in the world. The best game in the world is when everyone has to hide, except the catcher who had to close their eyes and count to twenty. Once every one had hidden the catcher couldn’t move. The counter would close their eyes again and count to fifteen. All the hiders would go closer to the catcher. The counter would count to ten then to five. One time I won one of the games.
Then we headed back to the mini bus. When we got back to school we had to take of our water proof clothes of and some of us changed into our spare clothes. Then it was home time. I was tired.

The Rocket Challenge 13th Of March

On Thursday 13th March we did the rocket challenge for science and engineering Week.
Before we started then we had to get partners, I got to go with Sophie. We each drew individual plans for our rockets, the one we chose had a lot of smiley faces. Then we had to go and pick our materials, we picked card. We had to make a rocket out of either card, cardboard and paper. Me and Sophie’s one was made out of card.
We had a time limit of 40 minutes. Sophie and I had to make a tube for our rocket it took ages and it was very very very frustrating. It had to be a certain size to fit on the air tube and I found it very hard. But we finally did it.

Then we could go outside and we could test them. The first time me and Sophie went out then we had to watch Nicol and Frasers before it was our turn to test our rocket, it went really high. Once we tested then we needed to go and put more cello tape on it to make it more air tight.

Then we went to do the height challenge. Nicol and Fraser’s rocket nearly won the height prize the first time, Emma and Katie’s rocket was third and mine was second. So we did another round Nicols was third because it didn’t even come off the ground. Emma’s was second and mine was first. We won an Easter egg. It was really fun. Hermione, Abbie and Laura and Emma and Katie Won the best looking challenge.
Mine got stuck in the rowing pipe. With an Irn-Bru bottle.

Bath Fizzies

During science week we had to do a new challenge every day and on Thursday the 13th of March we made and designed bath fizzies (bath bombs).
We came into the class at the start of the day and we had to put on gloves, aprons and goggles that Michael, Hermione’s dad, gave us.
Then we started making them. It was really fun. It was challenging too because if you put in too much liquid in with the chemicals it would start to fizz and it would react to the different chemicals and the bath bomb wouldn’t work as well. The ingredients were sodium hydrogen carbonate, citric acid, corn flour, water, food colouring, and fragrance oils. There were three groups, we all had to make up names and Logo’s so in the end Stephanie, Lewis and Loui-bo’s group was called Da Peerie Shetland Bath Bombs. Erin, Nicol and my group was called love and Emma, Hermione and Jason’s group was called the Homemade Beautiful Panda Perfumes.

After that we packaged them we all did something different, the Love group did red packaging and made it into a bag then tied it with ribbon and threaded through our labels, The homemade beautiful bath bombs did dark blue rapping and stuck there labels on top of the packaging, and Da Peerie Shetland bath bombs did clear rapping and stuck there label on top, like the beautiful panda perfumes.

After we had finished putting the bath bombs in the moulds we had to wait for 24 hours before we could package our bath bombs, and after we had rapped and decorated our bath bombs we made boxes for the bath bombs to go in. To start Mr Hewitt drew a net on the board and we had to copy what he had drawn. Next we cut out the net and stick them together. After that we decorated our boxes and put the bath bombs in the boxes. We took them home and our parents had to test and mark them out of ten in different areas our parents had to mark the , fizziness , presentation and scent. Overall it was very fun and I enjoyed it very much so did the rest of the class. The votes will be added up and the winning team will get an Easter egg each.

Was the Moon Landing a Hoax?

On Wednesday 12th March we had two debates. My debate was on whether the moon landing was faked or not, I was on the side saying it was a hoax.
When we came in the five of us sat at different sides. Me, Lewis and Nicol sat on one side and Loui-Bo and Jason sat on the other side. First of all my group said our arguments. Our arguments included the way the American flag wave on the moon, the lack of an impact crater and that there were no stars on the pictures. The waving flag was the American flag, and how it waved when there is no atmosphere on the moon. The impact crater was when Apollo 11 landed, there was no crater or shapes showing where it had landed. The last thing was when you look at the footage and pictures there are no stars although there are billions of stars in the sky. Then Loui-Bo and Jason said their arguments, which were against our points, every time they said something we had too quickly think up an argument to counter it for when we could talk again.

After we had said our arguments, the audience , which included our class, Mrs Perry and some of our parents got a chance to ask the groups questions and my group got flooded with them. We kept answering against questions and then the parents would ask us more questions against what we had said. It got really complicated. Loui-Bo and Jason occasionally asked a question but they never got asked one, since everyone agreed with them anyway.
After the debate people voted, they all said the moon landing was not a hoax. Loui-Bo and Jason both got a small chocolate thing for an award. Even after the debate was finished more people started talking to us again, and we what that lasted about ten minutes until eventually it came lunch and we had to go. Was like a second debate. It was really fun doing the debates and I want to do another one at some point.
