Stripe visiting around Burravoe

We have heard that Stripe has now arrived safely home with Class 3 and that they are very pleased to see him.
We thought we would post another book about some of the things he did when he was with us in Burravoe.

Choices Family Fortunes

On Thursday we went to Clickamin to see choices for life. There was singing by famous artists and some plays by Pace then it came to a family fortunes type thing. The format, with the Xs and bings!, was the same except the questions were about making the right choices. the family names were the Simpson’s and the adams. Everyone shouted out the answers but the secondarys said their answers. An example of a question was “what would you do if your friend asked you to try Cannabis”. Lots of answers were yelled but one answer was find some new friends. The scores were, 268 and 269 at the end the Simpsons won.

The Election

Yesterday, everyone put there votes in for our school election. Today we knew who won and I did. My Policies were to have a day each month to what we want and to do more fundraising for going on more school trips. Brydons policies were to get the non slip paint for the zipline and to do more sportsman ship. Lucys policies were to have free music lessons, no soup on Thursdays, pick your pudding and have half an hour of a school day off. James’s policies were that we  would teach the teachers every 2 months, everyone chooses what they want for dinner and to get the man to drain the football pitch!

Measuring the field

On Friday we decided to measure the field to practise for sports day. We measured 100, 400 and 800 metres to run. We were put into 2 teams, the metre stick team and the trundle wheel team. We both measured the pitch using our tools then went to the black stuff by the swings and grabbed some chalk. We had to do some sums to work out the amount. We, the metre stick team, had 32 metres and we had to work out how many times we had to run up and down to do 100m, 400m and 800m.

Transition

On my transition day at Burravoe we did animation on the computer. Our storyboard was about a boat fight and me and Brian character got hurt and had to go to hospital.

We all made our own characters that we chose on Mario Cart. I and Jonathan made the background and me Ashley and Brian made the characters out of play doh, mine was Koopa Troopa.

We stuck them on the boat and started filming and just finished on time but didn’t get time to put it together in movie maker so we are doing it next time.

We got to use play mobile toy cars and lots of different things as well.

We had 6 slides that we made and have to put together.

Stripe Day

On Thursday the little ones and I were doing a book to go to St Johns Primary School in Southampton about Stripe the monkey and what he has been doing. We had to print off a picture that was 1/2  of a  page and on the bottom we had to write about  what was happening in the picture. Next our teacher Mrs. Gott told us that we had to paint a picture of Stripe the monkey. Here is a picture of mine.

Eshaness and Northmavine

On Thursday we went to NorthMavine in Shetland. When we were going there we went past the North Sea and the Atlantic Ocean at Mavis Grind. It’s the only place where you can see both seas!

After we went to the school, we went to have our lunch at the Braewick Café in Eshaness. I had scampi in a basket and a chocolate milkshake! It was very tasty!  We went to play on the play frame that was outside the Braewick Café and it was loads of fun! We looked at the Drongs then went to the lighthouse.

The light house was very old and it was built by Robert Stevenson, he built a lot of lighthouses!

We also went to the Tangwick Haa Museum. We saw some old toys and some new so we could compare now and then. Upstairs the theme is about schools!

We went home after that but it was a really great day!

Urafirth school

On Thursday we went to Urafirth to see a play by Baldy Bane. It was in the school. The school was nice and it had shields around the top of the hall way and a 3d map of Urafirth. We walked a bit more and found a nursery waiting room thing and some toilets. After we had a tour of the school then we went outside to wait for Baldy Bane. Outside the children had painted pictures that represented them, 2 people had done Pokémon, animals, themselves and colourful shapes. We played on the playground and went to the beach and found bird eggs. We saw them inside and went there. We took our jackets off and went and sat down in the sports hall. The play started, it was about road safety and it was had 4 friends playing in an old railway station. After the play everyone went to the door and went outside to play. Their play equipment has 2 play houses, slide, rocky motorbike, a giant climby thing and some logs that are on chains and roll over. We played 3 step catchy, it is a game your only aloud 3 steps on the ground or else you are it. The best tactic is climb up the big thing and stay there until the catcher comes up. At the end we left and went to Eshaness café for food.

The Road Safety Play

We went to Urafirth School yesterday to watch Baldy Bane’s play about road safety. We all had to contribute to the play to make the characters cross the road safely. Some people had to come from the audience to act out a part in the play and I went up, we had to stop people from convincing us to run across the road  which was putting us under peer pressure.  Pretending to be drunk and running across the road is called playing chicken and is very dangerous!

Michaels Wood

On Wednesday we went to Michael’s Wood. It is in Eid. When we got there we put our rubbers on and piked up our food and went to picnic table and had lunch. After lunch we looked at the trees which were small but still the same effect. We walked on and then there was a box full of cars and a car mat so we played. We followed the path and read a joke on a sign then went to the Teddy bears picnic. There were teddy statues which was the perfect place to take pictures of Stripe but then all the little ones wanted pictures too and Lucy and Kay as well. We left the teddy bears picnic and went to the bird hide where we spied for birds but no luck. There were toys that made the real bird sound and a visitor book so we signed it and went really far up and went down to a pirate ship for play. I bet you can guess what we played! We played then we went to a pond with gold fish, frogs and koi carp. There was no gold fish or koi carp but there was some frog spawn. We played some more then switched our shoes and went home.

Our Visit to Lois Walpole Exhibition

On Wednesday we went to Bonhoga! We went to see Lois Walpoles work as a basket maker. She had made some interesting things like a tie made out  juice cartons! She had also made some washing baskets that were really tall. There was a display which had samples of her work that we could touch! My favourite was the coke can that was weaved into an interesting shape. I also liked the tie. Down stairs there were some more of her work and some weaving from around the world. There was weaving from Shetland and some from Tamil Nadu.
