Our Visit to Lois Walpole Exhibition

On Wednesday we went to Bonhoga! We went to see Lois Walpoles work as a basket maker. She had made some interesting things like a tie made out  juice cartons! She had also made some washing baskets that were really tall. There was a display which had samples of her work that we could touch! My favourite was the coke can that was weaved into an interesting shape. I also liked the tie. Down stairs there were some more of her work and some weaving from around the world. There was weaving from Shetland and some from Tamil Nadu.

  1. Hello again,
You seem to have had a really informative time at the Bonhoga Gallery with Lois Walpole\\\\\\\’s work. Have you tried any of your own weaving? My children can do simple board weaving using warp and weft threads. We have also seen a willow weaver from Askrigg School (about 15 miles from our school.) The willow weaver made a small hut like enclosure, which actually grows during the spring and summer so ends up covered in green leaves – it\\\\\\\’s magical! Check out our Middleham Blog – particularly Class 2 – a room with a view, as our girls and boys have taken pictures of our local area. We\\\\\\\’d really like to see what the view is like from your classroom and playground. I hope you can send us something!
    regards, Mrs Bell
p.s What is the postcard project?
