Our Week Week 3

This week in maths we made a scale drawing of a theme park.

We learned about Edward Jenner who worked out how that having cow pox meant you could not get small pox. We also learned you can fit 1 million bacteria on a pin head and 1 million viruses in a bacteria.

We started the daily rigour which is solving math problems from the news. We do the daily rigour every week.

In PE we have started doing badminton.

This week in library we learned how to use RB digital with is a online website that you can request books from the Shetland library, you can get all sorts of books and read them on your device.

Our Christmas Concert

This Thursday it was the Aith Primary concert. Primary 1 to 4 did a nativity ‘The Christmas Recipe’. Primary 5 sang ‘Scotland The Brave’, primary 6 and 7 did a rap about Christmas around the world.

On Friday it was Christmas jumper day and most people in the school wore Christmas jumpers and we took a picture outside. By Gene Smith

‘A Christmas Recipe’

Yesterday, primary 1 and 2 performed ‘A Christmas Recipe’ with fantastic support from primaries 3 and 4. We had our first practice in the morning and all the Early Years children and primaries 5/6/7 came to watch.  In the afternoon the mums, dads, uncles, aunties, grannies, grandads, brothers, sisters, cousins and friends came to watch our performance.  We put on our costumes and some of us got our face painted.

We felt excited, happy and a bit nervous but we felt we did a very good job and enjoyed performing it.  We worked very hard to learn all the songs for the nativity.

We would like to thank all the staff who helped make ready for the performance,  all the mums, dads and family members who came to watch it.  We hope you all enjoyed it!

A big “thank you” to our narrators from primary 5 who did a fantastic job!

Another brilliant week at Aith Junior High!

Hopefully everyone enjoyed meeting the author John Hegley. I am sure. It was brilliant fun watching him, asking questions and every thing else. He also sang P5/6/7 a brilliant poem.

P6/7 have been cross stitching with wonderful Mrs Fraser. We have been making Chinese calanders and we put a pig on it because it is going to be the year of the pig next year in China.

Children In Need Day

On Friday we had a few activities to raise money for Children In Need. There was a bran tub, duck sweepstake and that was sort of like a raffle and the prize was a Pudsey teddy that had a Color in shirt and there was a giant Pudsey drawing that we covered with coins. There were also Pudsey nail stickers. Everyone had lots of fun and we were extremely lucky that we got a visit from Pudsey. By Liam and Oliver

Cross Stitching

P6/7 were Cross Stitching with Mrs Fraser and a secondary pupil.
We were Cross Stitching for the year of the pig as our topic is Modern China. It will be our calendar for next year. We really enjoyed it even though sometimes a few people made mistakes and have not finished them yet and are looking forward to continuing them next week.

The Big Breakfast

Today the 5.10.18 we had the big breakfast . It was amazing how much money we raised…

£276.55! We did a Orcadian strip the willow , which was the longest ever in our school. We had porridge, pancakes, waffles, cereal, fruit, yogurts, hot chocolate, toast and eggs. The pancakes specially were a big hit.  I think everyone enjoyed the breakfast.:)

Thank you to Tesco and the dinner ladies for making this possible.

Week 6 – Primary 1 Learning Blog

We have learned about Frisky 5.  It was a peerie bit tricky to write but we did lots of practice and got very good at writing it.

We played ‘Splat’ with all the sounds that we have learned so far.

We watched a DVD about the clock face.

We were doing gymnastics and rolling with Mrs Redfern then we played islands.  It was fun.

We have enjoyed playing in the sandpit, the wooden blocks, the hospital, making a skeleton on the carpet and playing with the clocks.

Next week we want to learn some new sounds and the next number in Number Zoo which is Snappy Six!

We are looking forward to staying all day at school.
