Our Trips to ScreenPlay Film Festival

On Monday and Tuesday primary 6 and 7 went on two trips to the ScreenPlay film festival. Primary 6 went on Monday to see Revolting Rhymes  and on Tuesday primary 7 went to see The Breadwinner. There were two parts in Revolting Rhymes, the first one was about Snow White and Little Red Riding Hood and the second bit was about the Big Bad Wolf baby sitting Little Red Riding Hood’s children.

The Breadwinner was on Tuesday. The story was about a little girl called Parvana  and her dad which she called Papa who got taken away to prison for telling his children stories. They didn’t have much money so they tried to sell things at the market. Parvana had to pretend to be boy so she could buy food from the shops. In countries living under the Taliban, women are not allowed to go outside without their husbands. Many of us did not know that. We really liked the animation.

Afterwards, we had a workshop in Mareel. We got into groups and we spoke about how to turn a story into an animation. We drew storyboards for the main scenes.

Week 2 in Primary 1

We have learned about the letter S.  We used playdough and pipe        cleaners to make S.  We coloured in Snake then practiced writing lots of s.

We learned about Penguin One.  We found out that Penguin One slid so much on the snow that he got a black mark on his tummy which looked like a number 1.

We have enjoyed the morning walk, playing with the prehistoric stickers, playing outside at playtimes and our school dinners.

Next week we would like to learn about number 2 and some new letters.
