Supporting new staff to understand Nurturing Approaches in our schools and settings

Good practice will include:

  • Visit to Nurture group to observe one running in school/cluster
  • Classroom observations of good nurturing practice
  • Planned time to build a relationship with pupils who have a high level of need that you may be working with
  • Access to the plans/strategies in place for the pupils who require a higher or high level of support including time to discuss these with someone who knows or understand these
  • Time with the key contact for Nurture in that schools or setting to discuss and know and understand Nurturing Approaches priorities
  • Time to observe Nurturing interventions being delivered and to sit in on some of these
  • Time to read and discuss:
    1. School or setting policies connected to learning and Respectful Relationships
    2. SBC Nurturing Approaches Guidelines
    3. SBC Parents leaflet- Nurturing Approaches
