Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) is a two-day interactive workshop in suicide first aid. At ASIST you’ll learn how to recognise when someone may be thinking about suicide, and how to provide a skilled intervention and develop a safety plan with the person to connect them to further support.

ASIST is delivered in the Scottish Borders throughout the year, please email health.improvement@borders.scot.nhs.uk to be added to the distribution list to be informed when the next workshop is open for booking.

Verbal Intervention Training

We are pleased to confirm that Crisis Prevention Institute will continue to offer 3 Verbal Intervention Training across our authority during academic session 2024/25. CPI provide de-escalation and behaviour management training that puts people first.

Sessions are face to face and run from 9am until 4:30pm (4:00pm if shorter breaks are agreed).

• 13 August 2024 (Eyemouth High School) for Berwickshire, Eyemouth and Earlston Clusters
• 21 October 2024 (Selkirk High School) for Galashiels, Peebles and Selkirk Clusters
• 24 Feburary 2025 (Hawick High School) for Hawick, Jedburgh and Kelso Clusters

The training is for 24 delegates and a member of the inclusion and wellbeing team will also be present on the day. Spaces can be booked through Business World.

Please note – these sessions are for mainstream staff only. Enhanced provision staff will continue to complete the 2 day training course with Team Teach.
