STEM Ambassador Networking Event for Scottish Borders Teachers – 1 April at 3:45pm
SSERC and the RAISE (Raising Attainment in STEM education) network are delighted to provide an opportunity for teachers to meet and network with STEM Ambassadors from across the Scottish Borders.
The event will consist of a couple of short presentations and then a speed networking type event where groups of STEM Ambassadors and teachers will chat about what each of them do, what teachers need from STEM Ambassadors and what STEM Ambassadors can offer.
Groups will rotate so you will get the opportunity to meet lots of different teachers. This is an excellent way to find out more about what STEM ambassadors can do for your school. Teachers from across the Scottish Borders are invited to attend. Book on Business World or contact Alison Heaton (PSDO) gw09heatonalison@glowmail.org.uk.

NASUWT Scotland, Edinburgh
A very happy new year to you all.
Following on from our hugely successful NQT Seminar held in July, we will be holding a follow up seminar on Saturday 25 January 2025 from 10am-3pm, in the NASUWT Scotland office in Edinburgh. This seminar gives probationer teachers the opportunity to network with other probationers, explore issues which have affected them this year, and get advice from our professional caseworkers on any problems they want to discuss. Sessions will include a specific focus on finding their first teaching post, completion of the Full Probationer Profile and an update on the latest developments in Scottish Education.
I would be extremely grateful if you could kindly share these details with your probationer cohorts.
Places at the seminar are allocated on a first come first served basis, so early booking is recommended. Accommodation can be provided to those who require it and all travel expenses will be reimbursed upon provision of receipts. Lunch will be provided on the day.
Book online here: https://www.nasuwt.org.uk/event/BF001RSC25.html or email scotland@mail.nasuwt.org.uk

The STEP (Scottish Teachers for Enhancing Practice) Conference 2025 is taking place on Saturday 22nd March 2025 at Stirling Court Hotel and we would like to offer one free place to a probationer in each local authority. This will be processed on a first come, first served basis by STEP. Any other probationers or staff members who wish to attend and pay the fee are most welcome to register.
STEP, having evolved from ACTS (Association of Chartered Teachers Scotland), continues to provide all educationists with a forum for career-long professional learning. ACTS has run a highly successful annual conference since 2010 and the tradition continues, since 2014, with STEP. This annual event attracts not only classroom practitioners but also school managers, local authority representatives and probationers. The take up of a free place offered to probationers in previous years has been significant and we are pleased to be able to offer a limited number of free places in 2025. The decision to limit this to one free place to each local authority will hopefully ensure a fairer allocation of the free spaces.
We are delighted that Gillian Hamilton and Mark Priestley have accepted our invitation to be this year’s keynote speakers. David Cameron will be the conference chair.
We would appreciate if you would share this opportunity and the attached information with staff and probationers within your authority. Those wishing to secure their place can do so by registering here by 8th March 2025:
