Emergency First Aid – 2024/25

Next session each cluster will be hosting an Emergency First Aid session. The dates confirmed so far are confirmed below and are available to book through Business World.

Tuesday 13 August 2024 – Jedburgh Grammar Campus

Monday 21 October 2024 – St Margaret’s Primary School (Galashiels) and Melrose Primary School

Monday 24 February 2025 – Kelso High School and Trinity Primary School

Tuesday 6 May 2025 – Eyemouth High School and Knowepark Primary School

Verbal Intervention – 24/25

Verbal Intervention Training

We are pleased to confirm that Crisis Prevention Institute will continue to offer 3 Verbal Intervention Training across our authority during academic session 2024/25. CPI provide de-escalation and behaviour management training that puts people first.

Sessions are face to face and run from 9am until 4:30pm (4:00pm if shorter breaks are agreed).

  • 13 August 2024 (Eyemouth High School) for Berwickshire, Eyemouth and Earlston Clusters
  • 21 October 2024 (Selkirk High School) for Galashiels, Peebles and Selkirk Clusters
  • 24 Feburary 2025 (Hawick High School) for Hawick, Jedburgh and Kelso Clusters

The training is for 24 delegates and a member of the inclusion and wellbeing team will also be present on the day. Spaces can be booked through Business World.

Please note – these sessions are for mainstream staff only. Enhanced provision staff will continue to complete the 2 day training course with Team Teach.

Microsoft Innovative Education Expert & Apple Learning Coach

Microsoft MIEE Applications: Applications are now open to apply to be a Microsoft Innovative Education Expert (MIEE). It’s a fantastic program for staff who regularly use Microsoft applications (Teams/Forms/OneNote/Sway etc). Developing and Sustaining Reading for Pleasure

Primary Level

Enhance your professional knowledge and practice of reading for pleasure pedagogies with our new online programme endorsed by Education Scotland for primary teachers, beginning September 2024.

Gain the skills and confidence to lead on reading for pleasure in your primary setting, with expert resources and tailored support from the Scottish Book Trust team.

Through a blend of live online sessions and self-directed study, learn the key principles of reader motivation and engagement, supporting pupils to read for enjoyment and embedding reading for enjoyment while simultaneously enriching your own knowledge of contemporary texts for children.

  • The course runs from September 2024 until June 2025.
  • Applicants must be be currently employed as a primary school teacher or hold a promoted post in Education within a Local Authority setting in Scotland.

Play Pedagogy

Catriona Gill from Education Scotland will be leading the second of our Headteacher engagement sessions on Play Pedagogy at the Inspire Building on Friday 20th September 2024.

Those who attended the first session on Thursday 2nd May who have not yet submitted their evaluation form can still do so.

An additional workshop will be led by Catriona on Friday 4th October for all play pedagogy leads in schools.
