Girvan Primary School

Driving ambition through support, challenge and creativity

Promoting Positive Relationships

At Girvan Primary School we highly value and promote positive relationships within our school and the wider school community.

As a Rights Respecting School, our commitment to anti-bullying is supported by the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) which states that:

  • The Convention applies to every child without discrimination, whatever their ethnicity, gender, religion, language, abilities and any other status, whatever they think or say, whatever their family background. (Article 2)
  • Every child has the right to express their views, feelings and wishes in all matters affecting them, and to have their views considered and taken seriously. (Article 12)
  • Governments must do all they can to ensure that children are protected from all forms of violence, abuse, neglect and bad treatment by their parents or anyone else who looks after them. (Article 19)

Additionally, our policy and practice is underpinned by The Equality Act 2010, Getting It Right for Every Child (GIRFEC), Respect for All: The National Approach to Anti-Bullying for Scotland’s Children and Young People (Scottish Government) and Management Guidelines on Anti-Bullying (South Ayrshire Council).
