Maths

In Maths, we have been continuing our work on money, and the class has also enjoyed exploring fractions, decimals and percentages. Using pancakes helped us visualise and compare these concepts in a fun and memorable way! Pupils have been working on identifying equivalences and applying their learning through practical tasks.

Literacy

In Literacy, we have been diving into poetry, learning how to use strong descriptive vocabulary to paint pictures in the reader’s mind. We explored poetic techniques such as rhyme, rhythm, and creating clear rhyme patterns across lines.

We have now moved on to instructional writing, where pupils learn how to write clear, step‑by‑step instructions that someone else can follow easily. This involves using precise verbs, sequenced steps, connectives such as first, next, then, and finally, and ensuring the reader knows exactly what to do. The class has enjoyed practising this through real‑life tasks and fun classroom activities.

Science

Our Science learning this term has focused on food chains and food webs, helping us understand how animals and plants depend on one another. We have also been exploring inheritance, learning about how we become who we are and which traits can be passed down from our parents. The class has enjoyed comparing features and thinking about how characteristics are shared.

Topic: Scotland

Our Scotland topic has been a huge hit! We have been learning about famous Scottish figures and artists, exploring their contributions and achievements. Pupils have also investigated Scottish traditions, foods, clothing and cultural facts, gaining a deeper understanding of Scotland’s rich heritage.

Health and Wellbeing

This term in Health and Wellbeing, we have been learning about puberty and how to take care of our bodies as they change. We have also been exploring our rights and discussing what they look like in everyday life. Soon, we will begin our Developing the Young Workforce focus, where pupils will reflect on their own skills and qualities and how these can be used in future jobs and careers.
