PATHs Feelings – Angry & Upset

It is a difficult time right now where we are being told to stay home and keep safe. Some days even your teachers feel good and some times they too feel fed up, sad and angry. Remember it is okay to feel angry. How can you tell when someone is angry, what does their face look like? Remember when you are feeling angry, do the Turtle and talk to someone. Before screaming and shouting, think of 3 things you could do to instead e.g listen to music, jog, scream into a pillow! Here are some resources to help you cope when you are feeling angry or upset. If you cannot print the mindfulness colouring book then open it onto your computer/tablet and use paint software to colour it in.

Time for PAThS

At PAThS time we usually do our check to see how everyone is feeling.  We sit carefully and listen to others, remembering to make good eye contact with the person talking and we do not fidget.

Practice being a quality audience the next time a family member is talking to you, give them good eye contact, be still and so you can show that you are listening. Remember if you would like to do a check in then you can leave us a comment :).

Today we will recap the feeling worried. What does it mean if you are worried? How can you tell when someone is worried, what does their face look like? Is worry a comfortable or uncomfortable feeling?

Listen to this story called ‘The huge bag of worries’ by Virginia Ironside

  1. Talk about a time when you felt worried.
  2. Is there something you feel worried about just now?
  3. Draw or write some things that make you feel worried.
  4. What different  things did Jenny try to do to get rid of her worries? What did she do that helped her with her worries?
  5. What could you do to help you if you feel worried?

Remember all feelings whether comfortable or uncomfortable, are okay!

All About Me

It’s important to be able to say facts about your identity such as

  • your name (and be able to spell it)
  • your date of birth
  • your address
  • phone number.

Make an identity tag all about you – say it aloud and copy it out every day for 10 days. Perhaps after a few days you won’t even need to look at it to say and write the information!
Remember this information is private and you don’t need to share it with anyone – but it’s VERY important that you know it!

Good Afternoon! PAThS Lesson and P.E

In PAThS lessons, we discuss different emotions with Twiggle and his friends. This week, the feeling we will discuss in ‘disappointed’. What do you think this means? How can you tell if someone is disappointed, what would their face look like? Has there been a time where you have been disappointed? What happened and what did you do?

Have a discussion with someone at home about this or leave a comment. Remember all feeling are okay and you are allowed to feel disappointed at times. What you should remember to do is talk to someone about it and you can always do ‘the turtle’ (Stop, criss cross your arms almost hugging yourself and take some deep breaths) and say what the problem is.

Now time for P.E

If you have a garden then go for a jog.

  1. Do 10 sprints from each end of the garden.
  2. Do 10 star jumps.
  3. Stretch your arms to the sky
  4. Can you do 4 press ups?
  5. Do 5 Squats
  6. Make an obstacle course and complete it!

If you do not have a garden then join in the fun below:
