Achieving, Respect and Kindness
The children in P2a have been experimenting with magnets. They have noticed that they attract and repel, have two different poles and can be used in lots of different ways. Can you find any magnets in your house?
Today P2/1 started their new topic, ‘Hot and Cold’. We discussed what we know:
”Fire is hot.” Nico
”Dubai is hot.” Ruaraidh
”Ice cubes are cold.” Alexander
“Scotland is cold.” Cody
The children were asked what they wanted to find out:
”how is fire made?”
”Why is Africa hot?”
”Can deserts have snow?”
”What animals live in cold places and what animals live in hot places?”
”How is Earth hot in some places but cold in other places?”
We can’t wait to find out!
Our topic this term will be the farm. To help the children think about what a farm looks like, if possible please provide your child with a picture of a farm of their choice to bring into school by Thursday 20th January. This can be from anywhere e.g. the internet, a book, a cut-out from a newspaper or magazine.
The children in P2a have been using some excellent teamwork skills in PE. They passed a hoop around the circle without letting go of each other’s hands and had to cross the gym using only paper to step on. Through practice, listening and supporting each other they became more and more successful.
Happy New Year! We do hope all children and families had an enjoyable break. The P2 team were so pleased to see the children return to school. To begin 2022 we are learning the digraph (two letters, one sound) ‘ss’, and how say and write words which contain this sound. Please support your child to revise this sound by clicking on the following links:
We are also revising our understanding of data handling this week. Click on the following links to practice:
